Now Accepting Contributions for 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝗸𝗵𝗮𝗮𝗻 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 Special Edition - 10 Years of Amelia Lapeña-Bonifacio Writers Workshop

Known as the Grand Dame of Southeast Asian Children’s Theater, National Artist Amelia Lapeña-Bonifacio embodies the finest contemporary writing through her works in plays, short stories, books and novels, most of which are for children and young adults. Combining her studies on Southeast Asian traditional theater and her research on Filipino folk tales and traditions, she created a repertoire of plays for young audiences. Her works are written with much honesty that takes note of the innocence of a child as they embark in journeys through the worlds she creates. With her vast experience and knowledge, she continued to mentor young authors to harness their skills in adding to the narratives of contemporary Philippine literature.

To celebrate her legacy, the Likhaan: UP Institute of Creative Writing is now accepting submissions for the Likhaan Journal Special Edition - 10 years of the Amelia Lapeña-Bonifacio Writers Workshop. The journal will be made available later this year through panitikanph.com and journals.upd.edu.ph., and published with funding from the University of the Philippines. It features the best of new and unpublished Philippine writing in English and Filipino, and is open to all alumni from the Amelia Lapeña-Bonifacio Writers Workshop, whether based in the country or based abroad. Submissions to the journal undergo a strict pre-screening and double-blind refereeing process by both the editors and a panel of referees composed of eminent writers and critics from within and outside UP.

To review our guidelines and submit your work, see: https://forms.gle/s7BDxK7EMbobfKeG6

For this round, the issue editor is Dr. Luna Sicat Cleto.
