The Functional Inorganic Nanomaterials Chemistry Laboratory proudly announces a new publication by our researchers, led by our Principal Investigator, Dr. Michelle Regulacio, in 𝘾𝙝𝙚𝙢𝙉𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙈𝙖𝙩!

The paper entitled “Hierarchical CuS Nanostructures Prepared by Hydrothermal Decomposition for Photothermal Water Evaporation” is the master’s thesis work of Laarnie B. Tengco, conducted under the supervision of Dr. Michelle D. Regulacio, with co-authors Rufus Mart Ceasar R. Ramos and Dr. Luce Vida A. Sayson.

The Functional Inorganic Nanomaterials Chemistry Laboratory proudly congratulates our , Lorenzo Angelo M. Mapalo and Mary Grace A. Victorino, on completing their MS Chemistry degrees at the University of the Philippines Diliman! ✨

Enzo completed his thesis entitled “In-Situ Green Synthesis of Gold and Silver Nanoparticles for Multifunctional Finishing of Various Philippine Textiles.” He was also a recipient of the Dr. Leon M. Payawan Student Research Support for 2024. Beyond his work in the lab, Enzo also served as the former admin of the FINC Lab page, helping share the group's milestones and research with the community.

Grace completed her thesis entitled “Fabrication of Hydrophobic Magnetic Iron Oxide-Loaded Melamine Sponge Using Natural Waxes for Effective Oil-Water Separation.” Her work reflects the laboratory’s pursuit of functional and sustainable materials for real-world applications.

May your Sablay remind you of the courage and purpose built along the way. Here’s to new discoveries and the many ways you will continue to make chemistry matter. 🧪⚛️

The Functional Inorganic Nanomaterials Chemistry Laboratory is thrilled to announce the publication of the work of our members, headed by our Principal Investigator Dr. Michelle Regulacio, in 𝘼𝘾𝙎 𝘼𝙥𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙙 𝙉𝙖𝙣𝙤 𝙈𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙡𝙨 of the 𝘼𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝘾𝙝𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙎𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙩𝙮.

The Functional Inorganic Nanomaterials Chemistry Laboratory extends its congratulations to our fellow and Bossing 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐑𝐚𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐮𝐢𝐬 𝐄𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐨 for successfully defending his 𝗠𝗦 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 thesis last 29 May 2026!

John Rae, or Hanrii as he is fondly called, defended his thesis titled, "𝘿𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙗𝙤𝙭𝙮𝙡𝙞𝙘 𝘼𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙤 𝘼𝙘𝙞𝙙-𝘿𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙎𝙮𝙣𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙘 𝙃𝙞𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝘼𝙜 𝙉𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙋𝙝𝙤𝙩𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙡 𝙒𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙀𝙫𝙖𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣" which he did under the supervision of the lab's Principal Investigator 𝑫𝒓. 𝑴𝒊𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒆 𝑹𝒆𝒈𝒖𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒊𝒐.

Having served the lab as one of its Research Associates, we are so proud of Hanrii for his achievement. He was a constant presence in the lab for most of us, sharing his experience and expertise to anyone who needs it. Thanks, boss!

The Functional Inorganic Nanomaterials Chemistry Laboratory is announcing the Master's Examination of 𝙈𝙧. 𝙅𝙤𝙝𝙣 𝙍𝙖𝙚 𝙇𝙤𝙪𝙞𝙨 𝙀𝙨𝙘𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙤 for the degree of 𝑴.𝑺. 𝒊𝒏 𝑴𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒍𝒔 𝑺𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑬𝒏𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈.

The Functional Inorganic Nanomaterials Chemistry Laboratory would like to extend its congratulations to our fello 𝑳𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒛𝒐 𝑨𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒍𝒐 𝑴𝒂𝒑𝒂𝒍𝒐 for successfully defending his MSc Chemistry thesis last 16 April 2026!

The Functional Inorganic Nanomaterials Chemistry Laboratory is one with the world as it celebrates the 𝓘𝓷𝓽𝓮𝓻𝓷𝓪𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷𝓪𝓵 𝓓𝓪𝔂 𝓸𝓯 𝓦𝓸𝓶𝓮𝓷 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓖𝓲𝓻𝓵𝓼 𝓲𝓷 𝓢𝓬𝓲𝓮𝓷𝓬𝓮!

Since its establishment in 2015, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science has been celebrated every 11th of February. This aims to celebrate the great many contributions of women and girls in science and to further advance gender equality in response to the problems of the world.

We, members of FINC Lab, is no stranger to the amazing things that women in STEM do. Our Principal Investigator, 𝘿𝙧. 𝙈𝙞𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙚 𝙍𝙚𝙜𝙪𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙞𝙤, built our laboratory in 2020 where we welcomed and nurtured budding scientists in UP Diliman. Here, she shared her expert knowledge in and utmost compassion for the field of nanotechnology, producing valuable knowledge for the world. Together with this celebration, we also wish for mega rest and enjoyment for our Academic Mother as she enters her sabbatical leave.

Women of our lab, both past and present, are all flourishing in their own professions bringing with them the things they have learned from the laboratory- an eye for what is right, unending passion for science, and a culture of excellence in everything that they do.

We join the world as it pushes for more representation and participation of women in STEM fields! Abante, babae!
