The University Student Council of Trinity University of Asia has formally raised concerns regarding hygiene practices in the campus canteen, emphasizing the importance of maintaining safe and clean food services for the student body. The council submitted a letter outlining both the concerns and their recommended actions to the Vice President for Administration and Finance.
In the letter, the council acknowledged the efforts of canteen administrators and food stall operators in providing accessible and affordable meals, while also highlighting feedback from students about sanitation issues.
These concerns were supported by student posts and a formal complaint, prompting the council to take a proactive approach in addressing the matter. Notably, the council has undertaken constructive dialogue with the University Dietitian, who supervises canteen food operations, to jointly develop practical solutions and ensure that the identified concerns are effectively addressed.
The council proposed several constructive recommendations aimed at improving overall hygiene standards. These include implementing a digital feedback system for students, reinforcing proper food handling practices among staff, conducting regular monitoring and evaluation of cleanliness, and ensuring visible sanitation measures such as handwashing stations and proper waste management.
The council expressed optimism that, through collaboration with university officials, these steps will lead to a safer and more positive dining environment for the entire Trinitian community.
