Thank you very much Dr. Wookyung Jeong (PhD Korean Literature, Seoul National University) for giving an insightful lecture entitled, "War, Speed, and Care: Korean Society Through the Lens of Literature" where she thoroughly presented the sociohistorical contexts of modern and contemporary Korean society, recurring issues, and Korean psych to understand the emotions and phenomena that revolves around reality and fictions.

Dr. Jeong raised two important questions, "What does literature do? And why do we still need literature?" and our audience also asked questions from their diverse curiosity to understand Korean literature and its translation in recent years, Dr. Jeong's recommendations of novel-to-film adaptations, and how contemporary literature keep moving forward to achieve justice and equality for more human beings.

We also appreciate Dr. Jong Cheol Kim of Seoul National University Asia Center (SNUAC) for partnering with us and hosting this great lecture for Filipino students!

The event was co-hosted by UP Center for International Studies, Seoul National University Asia Center, and UP Korea Research Center, with support from the Korea Foundation-한국국제교류재단.
