📢 MEDICAL LIBRARY ADVISORY

Updated Guidelines on Uniforms, Grooming, and Campus Curfew

The Nicanor Reyes, Jr. Medical Library reminds all students and alumni using the Library to observe the updated institutional guidelines on proper uniform, attire, grooming, and campus conduct.

Please be guided by the following:
• Monday–Thursday: Students must wear the prescribed school uniform.
• Fridays: Official School/Program T-shirts may be worn in observance of Wash Day, except during major examinations, formal academic activities, or official Foundation events.
• PE uniforms may only be worn during PE classes.
• Saturdays, Sundays, and special activity days: Official School/Program T-shirts may be worn, with the school ID properly displayed.
• Students extending their study time on campus must continue to observe the prescribed attire for the day.
• Alumni using the Library for review or study must wear proper attire and present an Alumni ID or temporary library card.

All students and alumni are likewise expected to observe proper grooming, decorum, and existing institutional policies at all times.

These guidelines are in accordance with FEU-NRMF-VPAA-02-23-2023-010, FEU-NRMF-VPAA-08-05-2024-10, and FEUNRMF-VPAA-03-26-2026-05.

We encourage everyone to review the advisory carefully and help maintain a professional and conducive academic environment within the Medical Library.

🧬 On This Day in Medicine | September 28, 1928

A contaminated Petri dish. A curious observation. A discovery that would help transform modern medicine.

In 1928, bacteriologist Alexander Fleming observed that bacteria growing near a Penicillium mold on a culture plate had been inhibited. Rather than simply discarding the contaminated plate, he investigated what had happened.

The substance produced by the mold would become known as penicillin. Fleming published his findings the following year, setting in motion further research that eventually made penicillin one of medicine's most consequential antimicrobial discoveries.

🔬 Research begins with questions, but sometimes, it also begins with paying attention to the unexpected.

Pharmacists are an essential part of healthcare—from helping patients use medicines appropriately and providing trusted medicines information to supporting prevention, improving access to care, and contributing to stronger health systems.

📚✨ Need a space for your next group study session? You can now book ahead!

The Nicanor Reyes Jr. Medical Library is introducing a new appointment system for the Study Pods and Discussion Rooms at the LG Library Facility.

From September 23 to 30, 2026, we'll be conducting a trial period for the new system, and we'd love for you to try it!

📅 Book up to 3 days in advance
🕐 Reserve for 1–2 hours between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM
🔁 Up to 2 bookings per day
👥 Study Pods: 4–7 users
👥 Discussion Rooms: 6-8 users

Simply scan the QR Code for your preferred room or pod, complete your booking, and wait for your confirmation notice and email. When it's time for your reservation, show your confirmation to the library staff assigned at the LG Library Facility.

🔎 Have a research topic but don't know what to type into the search box?

Don't start with the database. Start with your question.

A broad topic like “social media and anxiety” becomes much easier to search once you turn it into a focused research question, identify its main concepts, and think of alternative terms researchers might use.

Then you can put those concepts together using AND and OR to create a more purposeful search strategy. 📚

Swipe through and follow the process:

Topic → Question → Concepts → Keywords → Search

And remember: your first search doesn't have to be perfect. Good searching is iterative—search, review, adjust, and try again.
