Nakilahok ang UP Law Center Workers and Employees Program (WEP) sa Labor Roundtable Discussion on the FY 2027 National Budget noong 21 Hulyo 2026. Dinaluhan ito ng iba’t-ibang kinatawan mula sa sektor ng paggawa upang suriin ang kasalukuyang kalagayan ng mga manggagawa at mga pangunahing isyu na kinakaharap ng mga manggagawa.

Tinalakay sa agenda ang pagsusuri ng mga budget proposal ng mga ahensya, pagtukoy sa mga kakulangan sa pondo at implementasyon, at pagbuo ng mga konkretong rekomendasyon para sa deliberasyon ng pambansang badyet sa Kongreso.

Ibinahagi ni Senior Legal Associate Atty. Nathaniel Diaz, kasama sina Research Assistants Bb. Queenie Umadhay at Bb. Rhaña Santos, ang posisyon ng WEP hinggil sa mga puwang sa batas at implementasyon ng badyet. Kabilang sa mga isyung binigyang-diin ang kontraktwalisasyon, pagsasanay ng mga SEnA Desk Officer (SEADO), labor inspection, rebisyon ng Labor Code, pagtaas ng sahod, at iba pa.

Sa pagtatapos ng talakayan, napagkasunduan ng mga kalahok na pagsama-samahin ang mga rekomendasyon, maghanda ng mga tanong para sa interpelasyon sa badyet, at mangalap ng karagdagang datos upang higit na mapalakas ang mga lehislatibong pagpapanukala. Patuloy ding magsasagawa ng pananaliksik ang WEP sa mga isyung nakakaapekto sa kalagayan ng mga manggagawa bilang paghahanda sa susunod na pagpupulong.



The UP Law Center Workers and Employees Program (WEP) actively participated in the Labor Roundtable Discussion on the FY 2027 National Budget held on 21 July 2026. The event gathered representatives from the labor sector to examine the current state of workers and primary issues affecting them.

The agenda focused on the analysis of agency budget proposals, the identification of funding and implementation gaps, and the development of concrete recommendations for congressional budget deliberations.

Senior Legal Associate Atty. Nathaniel Diaz, along with Research Assistants Ms. Queenie Umadhay and Ms. Rhaña Santos, presented WEP’s position on gaps in the law and budget implementation. They highlighted key issues such as contractualization, training of SEnA Desk Officer (SEADO) , labor inspection, the revision of the Labor Code, wage increases, and other related concerns.

By the end of the roundtable, participants agreed to consolidate the recommendations, prepare questions for budget interpellations, and gather additional data to further strengthen legislative proposals. WEP will also continue its research on issues affecting workers in preparation for future discussions.
