UP Delta Lambda Sigma Sorority UP DLS is a duly recognized university-wide sorority in the University of the Philippines Diliman. The Sorority was formally established on April 5, 1946.

The UP Delta Lambda Sigma Sorority emerged during turbulent times, with the country struggling to regain its balance after the devastation of war. Thirty-three visionary women with a commitment to Academic Excellence, Leadership and Sisterhood blazed a path through these difficult times. It was merely formally organized because the ideals for which the sorori

ty stands have been in existence since time immemorial. It was recognized by the University Council Committee on Student Organization Activities only 11 days after it was founded, a feat at the time for an organization especially one composed solely of women. UP DLS has attained a place of great respect and esteem in the university. It has been awarded twice as the Most Outstanding Organization of the University. The sorority also holds the Wenceslao Q. Vinzons Award, a distinction given only to deserving and outstanding Greek-lettered organizations that have rendered extraordinary service not just in UP, but in our country. For 7 decades, the UP DLS has built an impressive roster of Deltans accomplished in the fields of law, medicine, government service, business, engineering, social sciences, arts, among others. The distinguished alumni include Senator Pia Cayetano, Associate Justices Minerva Gonzaga-Reyes and Carolina Grino-Aquino, COMELEC Commissioner Rowena Guanzon, Former DFA Secretary and Ambassador Delia Albert, Judge Angeline Quimpo-Sale, Investigative Journalist Marites Vitug, National Artist and UP Madrigal Singers founder Andrea Veneracion, Palanca Awardee Joan Deveraturda, First woman pilot of the Philippines Ma. Aurora Carandang-Gloria. Now on its 70th year, the UP Delta Lambda Sigma Sorority continues to seek for the higher things in life.

We extend our warmest congratulations to our sister, Rizz Sanchez ‘24, on being admitted into the prestigious 2026 Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) Legal Internship Program. This significant achievement is a testament to her academic excellence, hard work, and unwavering commitment to the legal profession.

The OSG Legal Internship is a highly competitive program that offers select law students the opportunity to train within the “Law Firm of the State.” Throughout this program, interns work closely with seasoned State Solicitors, gaining invaluable experience in high-level legal research, the drafting of pleadings, and the defense of the Republic’s legal interests. It is a rigorous training ground designed to mold the next generation of exemplary lawyers and public servants.

Aming ibinabati si Rizz Sanchez ‘24 sa kanyang pagkapili bilang isa sa mga intern sa prestihiyosong 2026 Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) Legal Internship Program. Ang mahalagang tagumpay na ito ay patunay ng kanyang kahusayang akademiko, masigasig na paggawa, at matatag na dedikasyon sa propesyon ng batas.

Ang OSG Legal Internship ay isang kompetitibong programa na nagbibigay ng pagkakataon sa mga piling mag-aaral ng batas na magsanay sa loob ng kinikilalang “Law Firm of the State.” Sa buong programang ito, ang mga intern ay katuwang ng mga bihasang State Solicitor sa paglinang ng kanilang galing sa malalim na legal research, paggawa ng mga pleading, at pagtatanggol sa mga legal na interes ng Republika. Ito ay isang mahigpit na pagsasanay na idinisenyo upang hubugin ang susunod na henerasyon ng mga mahuhusay na abogado at lingkod-bayan.

We extend our highest commendations to our esteemed sisters, Rosalina Luna-Pison ‘58, Mia Joy Oallares-Cawed ‘74, and Maria Josefina San Juan-Torres ‘82, for their distinguished honors during the 31st Annual Convention of the Philippine Women Judges Association (PWJA). We celebrate the extraordinary milestone of Hon. Rosalina L. Luna-Pison ‘58 (Ret.), who received a Special Award for being named the 2025 Arline Pacht Global Vision Awardee by the International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ). This prestigious global accolade recognizes her visionary leadership in advancing gender equality, human rights, and universal access to justice, bringing immense honor and international prestige to the Philippine judiciary.

We likewise pay tribute to Hon. Mia Joy Oallares-Cawed ‘74, Retired Presiding Judge of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 4, Baguio City (Region 1), for her dedicated years of service and her impactful contributions to the bench. The UP Delta Lambda Sigma Sorority, in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross, held the Drops of Hope: UP DLS Blood Donation Drive at the Vinzons Hall Lobby, last April 10, 2026.

The donation drive became more than a call for donors. It was a collective act of compassion, where students and community members came together to share the gift of life. Through this initiative, the sorority highlighted the vital role of voluntary blood donation in sustaining hospitals and saving lives, while also nurturing a culture of empathy and service within the university.

The UP Delta Lambda Sigma Sorority sincerely thanks the Philippine Red Cross, the donors, and all sponsors who stood behind this cause. Every drop donated is a testament to hope, solidarity, and the enduring strength of the UP community.

Isinagawa ng UP Delta Lambda Sigma Sorority ang Drops of Hope: UP DLS Blood Donation Drive sa Vinzons Hall Lobby, katuwang ang Philippine Red Cross, noong ika-10 ng Abril, 2026.

Hindi lamang ito naging panawagan para sa mga donor, kundi isang sama-samang pagkilos ng malasakit, kung saan nagtipon ang mga mag-aaral at miyembro ng komunidad upang maghandog ng buhay sa pamamagitan ng dugo. Sa proyektong ito, binigyang-diin ng UP DLS ang kahalagahan ng boluntaryong pagbibigay ng dugo sa pagpapanatili ng serbisyong medikal at pagliligtas ng buhay, kasabay ng pagpapalaganap ng kultura ng malasakit at paglilingkod sa pamantasan.

Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us by joining our Grand Pakain and Exhibit Launch last April 7 in Malcolm Hall Lobby. From the good food to the even better company, we couldn't have asked for a better way to mark this milestone. Check out some of our favorite moments from the day!

Maraming salamat sa lahat ng nakisaya sa amin sa aming Grand Pakain at Exhibit Launch noong ika-7 ng Abril sa Malcolm Hall Lobby. Today, we honor the extraordinary courage and selfless sacrifice of the heroes who stood their ground on the hills of Bataan. Their story is not just one of struggle, but of the undying resilience that defines the Filipino spirit. As we commemorate this Day of Valor, let us carry their legacy in our hearts—reminding us that no matter how great the challenge, the love for country and the pursuit of freedom will always prevail. We owe our today to those who gave their tomorrow.

80 years ago, a humble flicker was breathed into life. Today, it stands as an everlasting luster.

Before a legacy can illuminate the world, it must first be devotedly kept alive. For eight decades, the UP Delta Lambda Sigma Sorority has served as a vessel of this enduring incandescence—refined by the trials of history, strengthened by the bonds of sisterhood, and fueled by a purpose that transcends the passage of time.

As we commemorate the past 80 monumental years, we look back with reverence at the light that started it all, and look forward with fervor toward the horizon we continue to illuminate together. Ours is a story written in beams of gold, a Legacy of Light that remains our compass, our crown, and our gift to the generations to come.
