Non-Timber Forest Products - Exchange Programme

As we commit to a world without hunger this #WorldFoodDay, NTFP-EP reaffirms the importance of forests as a repository of valuable foods, and as a part of the global programme on food security.

In line with this, we are announcing our new book "Wild Tastes in Asia: Coming home to the forest for food" written by Madhu Ramnath and Ramon Razal.

A book launching event will be held on October 24, 2019 at Megatrade Hall, SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City, Philippines during the 2019 National Arts and Crafts Fair.

"Wild Tastes in Asia" explores the relations between indigenous peoples and wild (or uncultivated) foods ranging from techniques and knowledge about gathering, fishing and hunting, the status of wild foods, special foods, sacred foods, the consumption of wild foods in contemporary indigenous societies, their nutritive values, and possible future trends.

"It is indeed ironic that the world's marginalized peoples whose knowledge we bank on while embarking on the research for this book are the ones who may show a way
out of the modern world's food crisis." (Ramnath & Razal, 2019)
