[UPSE SIDHI SURVEY FOR MIDTERM ELECTIONS]

UPSE SIDHI, the official student publication of the UP School of Economics, conducted a poll that collected responses from 151 UP School of Economics students regarding their candidate preferences in the upcoming May 13 midterm elections. The poll ran from April 15 to May 1 and featured four primary questions:

1. Which senatorial candidates would you vote for in the upcoming May 2019 elections? (Pick 12/62 choices)
2. Are you a registered voter?
3. Are you a first-time voter?
4. Which slate/political party appeals to you the most? (pick 1/5 choices)

Regarding UPSE's top 14 preferred senatorial candidates, the results were as follows:

1. Chel Diokno: 96.7% (146 votes)
2. Samira Gutoc: 89.6% (135 votes)
3. Neri Colmenares: 83.4% (126 votes)
4. Pilo Hilbay: 79.5% (120 votes)
5. Bam Aquino: 74.2% (112 votes)
6. Mar Roxas: 70.9% (100 votes)
7. Ka Leody de Guzman: 64.2% (97 votes)
8. Erin Tañada: 55% (83 votes)
9. Gary Alejano: 45% (68 votes)
10. Romy Macalintal: 35.1% (53 votes)
11. Grace Poe: 34.4% (52 votes)
12. Nancy Binay: 19.2% (29 votes)
13. Serge Osmeña: 17.9% (27 votes)
14. Doc Willie Ong: 11.3% (17 votes)

The results of the survey also revealed that 108 students (74%) of respondents were registered voters and that 93 students (65%) will be exercising their right to vote for the first time.

Among coalitions, the opposition-led "Otso Diretso" slate garnered 115 votes (78.8%) of confidence from UPSE students, followed by "Labor Win" (13.7%), "Independent Candidates" (13%), and "Hugpong Ng Pagbabago" (0.7%), respectively. 13% of students did not choose a coalition preference.

Let's not give Mocha Uson the last word. It's time to find our voice.

The 2017 Applications for the Next SIDHI Editor In Chief have now been opened!

As Editor In Chief you will oversee and manage the official student publication of the UP School of Economics. It shall be your duty to maintain a platform for the student body to have meaningful conversation and discourse. The publication shall serve as a chapter in a long volume of histories of the School of Economics.

As Editor In Chief, you will not just write history, you've already made it.
