The “2026 UNESCO-UNITWIN: 12th International Conference on Quality Teacher Education” will happen on October 12–13, Monday and Tuesday, at the UP Diliman (UPD) School of Economics.

With the theme “Perspectives on Sustainable Teacher Education: New Horizons for Teacher Capacity-Building and Development in the Digital Tradition,” the conference is jointly organized by the UPD National Institute for Science and Mathematics Education Development and the Korea National University of Education.

The University of the Philippines National Institute for Science and Mathematics Education Development (UP NISMED) in partnership with the Korea National University of Education (KNUE) UNESCO-UNITWIN Program, and the UP Diliman College of Education, will conduct the 12th UNESCO-UNITWIN International Conference on Quality Teacher Education on 12-13 October 2026 at the School of Economics in UP Diliman, Quezon City.

This year's conference theme is “Perspectives on Sustainable Teacher Education: New Horizons for Teacher Capacity-Building and Development in the Digital Transition.”

The conference serves as a venue for meaningful dialogue on the future of teacher education as participants explore new perspectives and approaches to sustainable teacher capacity-building and professional development, particularly in response to the opportunities and challenges brought about by the ongoing digital transition.

Participants to the conference include teacher educators from KNUE, Khon Kaen University, Mahidol University Kanchanaburi Campus, Souphanouvong University, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, University of the Philippines Diliman - College of Education, UP NISMED, and Vietnam National University-University of Education.

The UP Men’s Football Team (UPMFT) started their campaign in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 89 men’s football tournament with a win against the University of Santo Tomas Golden Booters, 2-1, on Oct. 8 at the UP Diliman Football Field.

Martin Joshua L. Meriño put the UP Fighting Maroons ahead in the 69th minute, finishing Miguel Basmayor’s pass from close range. Ramil K. Bation III sealed the victory in the 90th minute, weaving through the defense before firing home the insurance goal.

UPMFT’s next game is against the Ateneo de Manila Blue Eagles on October 11, 4:30 p.m. at the same venue.
