📣 The Forensics Guild extends its earnest congratulations to its contingent for their performance in PSDC 2025, which was hosted by Ateneo Debate Society from January 8 to 11!

Philippine Schools Debate Cup, one of the most prestigious national debate tournaments in the high school circuit, had its 24th edition in 2025. This was its second year of holding the tournament face-to-face since the pandemic. PSDC has always been a space for friendly competition as it fosters critical and rigorous thinking skills.

This year’s PSDC saw the most participants in the past 23 years that it had been hosted. With 133 teams, a total of 266 debaters, only 32 teams broke into the Open category for Open octofinals. Due to the vast number of competing debaters, it was decided that the Ana Alano category (A category open to institutions that haven’t made it to the Grand Finals in the past ten iterations of PSDC) would be expanded to 16 teams for Quarterfinals, instead of the original 8 teams for Semifinals.

With this, the MCHS contingent was able to receive the following accolades:
🏅MC A was the 5th Open Breaking Team, and were Open Semifinalists.
🏅MC B was the 16th Open Breaking Team, and were Open Octofinalists.

We recognize all the members and their efforts in this tournament 🌟! Congratulations on your hard work!

📣 The Forensics Guild extends its sincere congratulations to its contingent for their performance in XSDC 2024, which was hosted by the Xavier Debate Team from November 30 to December 1!

Xavier Schools Debate Cup 2024, was one of the rare British Parliamentary tournaments that was hosted by high schoolers in the Philippine debate circuit. It was the first edition of the tournament to be held face-to-face in Xavier San Juan and it was exclusively open to Novice debaters. Its theme “Overdrive” sought to engage critical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills in order to encourage novice debaters to exit their comfort zones and improve their debating competence in an active and engaging manner.

Sixty-five teams, with a total of 130 debaters, competed in four preliminary rounds. There were 16 Open breaking teams, as Open out rounds started at Quarterfinals, and there were eight Am-Am breaking teams (Teams wherein both members had XSDC as their first debate tournament), as Am-Am outrounds started at Semifinals.
With this, the MCHS contingent was able to receive the following accolades:
🏅MC A was the 3rd High School Breaking Team, and were Open Grand Finalists.
🏅Angela Nilo of 10-Licad, was the 6th Best Open Speaker.
🏅Patrice Chua off 11-Doronila, was a Breaking Adjudicator.
