Pinoy '55 is deeply saddened to share the passing of our brother, Max Limpag, batch 1994.
A loyal brother through and through, Max's presence in our fellowship shall always be remembered. Over the years, his especial character and sincere kindness have touched many of us in humble ways. The brotherhood holds many tokens and cherished good times with Max, knowing him on a really personal level.
Born in Polomolok, South Cotabato, Max studied political science in UP Diliman, here he joined the ranks of The Brotherhood of the Filipinos 1955. A true Filipino, Max's devotion to journalism and writing reflected at once how he deeply loves his heritage and culture. We are truly proud of our brothers who show love for country and heritage. Max's reputation for honest reporting and his passion for (Cebuano) truth, is known throughout the country.
One of Cebu's most respected journalists, in his nearly 30-year career, Max made significant contributions to journalism and digital media. He worked for The Freeman, Today, The Independent Post, SunStar Cebu, Cebu Daily News, CDN Digital, Philstar Life, Esquire Philippines, and Rappler, in various editorial roles. He co-founded InnoPub Media, a startup that created digital tourism guides, and e-publications; he also co-founded โฆMyCebu.phโฉ and โฆCebuRunning.comโฉ (which won Best Sports Blog 2011). In 2024 he was honored as a Rappler Aries Rufo Journalism Fellow, and earlier, in 2007, his personal blog won the inaugural PBA Best Technology Blog award.
The brotherhood extends its heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. He is deeply missed.
Rest in peace, brother, Max Limpag '94.
