Kandili, in the Filipino language, means โ€œto care for and provide supportโ€, which resonated with the groupโ€™s goals and ideals for the advocacy project. Kandili partners with Bahay Aruga to combat childhood cancer through an exhibit called โ€œPlayground of Hopeโ€. This features children's artworks expressing their dreams, hope, and determination in battling cancer, alongside a short documentary that shares their personal stories, daily struggles they face in their treatments, their everyday lives, and the healthcare inequities in the Philippines.

The exhibit was dedicated to combating childhood cancer by advocating for early cancer detection and support. It aims to raise awareness of the symptoms, provide educational resources for affected families, and fundraise for financial assistance.

The exhibit was co-presented by Bahay Aruga, Macquarie Montessori Preschool, International Studies Society, and the Arts & Design Society.

April 21 marked a meaningful and inspiring Grades 5 and 6 Turnover Ceremony, celebrating leadership, growth, and new beginnings. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

With the passing of the light, our Grade 6 students entrusted their legacy to the Grade 5 students, who now step up as the next leaders of the community. Miss Alyanna "Yani" Mayo, MC alumna and guest speaker for this year's ceremony, used her Grade School stories to tell students that they can achieve their dreams following their own light, just as she once did.

Through prayers, songs, and candle lighting, the evening reminded everyone to lead with faith, love, and purpose. ๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ

The light continues to shine brighter as it is passed on. ๐ŸŒŸ

Their achievement also reflects the schoolโ€™s commitment to academic excellence and meaningful inquiry that addresses real-world challenges.

Congratulations to the group for exemplifying academic excellence and research with purpose!
