World Citi Colleges - Quezon City proudly marks another significant milestone in scholarly engagement and research dissemination as Prof. Kim Tony Dizon, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and Instr. Mark Andre B. Andallo, Technical Writer in the Quality Assurance Office and faculty member of the College of Arts and Sciences, in collaboration with Dr. Arvy N. Osma of Mariners Polytechnic Colleges Foundation, Canaman, Cam Sur, Philippines, presented their research paper entitled:
โEconomic Vulnerability, Community Disadvantage, and Psychological Distress in Urban and Rural Communities: The Protective Roles of Social Support and Stable Employmentโ
The research was presented at the 19th Kuroshio Science Symposium, hosted by the University of Santo TomasโLegazpi on September 3, 2026.
The study examines the complex interplay among economic vulnerability, community disadvantage, and psychological distress across urban and rural communities. In particular, it explores how social support and stable employment may serve as protective factors, potentially mitigating the adverse psychological consequences associated with socioeconomic hardship and disadvantaged community conditions.
Through this scholarly undertaking, the researchers contribute to the broader academic discourse on socioeconomic inequality, community well-being, and mental health, while emphasizing the importance of evidence-based approaches in understanding the social and economic determinants that shape individual and community resilience.
