Celebrating 50 years of Tourism Education in the Philippines!

The entire UP AIT Community celebrates this milestone achievement as the first and only institution in the Philippines with all its degree programs TedQual certified.

Today, we received our UN Tourism TedQual Certification for the following programs:
- Bachelor of Science in Tourism
- Graduate Diploma in Tourism Development and Management
- Master of Science in Tourism Development and Management

A UN Tourism TedQual Certification System is an international quality assurance program established by UN Tourism (formerly UNWTO) and the Themis Foundation to evaluate and improve tourism education, training, and research. Six core dimensions are assessed:
Employers: Alignment of the curriculum with industry needs and employer expectations.
Students: Student support, learning experience, and workforce readiness.
Curriculum and Pedagogical System: Study plan coherence, academic design, and delivery methods.
Faculty: Selection, development, and qualifications of teaching staff.
Management: Administrative policies, infrastructure, and institutional organization.
Global Code of Ethics for Tourism (GCET): Alignment of the program with ethical and sustainable tourism principles.

PROUD TO BE AIT | Alumni Spotlight Series

From the halls of UP AIT to a life of public service and leadership, Lucilyn Banac Jusay (Batch 1992) reminds us that the lessons we carry from our Alma Mater go far beyond the classroom.

For her, AIT built not only knowledge, but also the confidence, grit, discipline, and perseverance to face challenges and keep moving forward. 💛

Today, she serves as Provincial Government Department Head of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of Davao del Sur bringing with her the values and preparation that began at AIT.

Her journey is a reminder to every Iskolar and alumnus: challenges may change, but the determination AIT helped build stays with us.

Some of the best AIT classrooms had no walls.

Field trips, site visits, endless group photos and the experiences that taught us lessons beyond any textbook. Years later, we may forget some of the itinerary, but we never forget the people who were part of the journey.

Celebrating an inspiring story from our Alumni Spotlight Series!

Meet Mr. Carl Anthony Reyes, Batch 2013, whose journey reminds us that success rarely happens overnight. Behind every opportunity are years of learning, preparation, perseverance, and the courage to be ready when the right moment comes.

Now serving as Assistant Director of Human Resources at Shangri-La Makati – Manila. As he reminds us:

“The luckiest people are often the ones who spent years preparing for the moment everyone else thought happened overnight.”

May his story inspire fellow alumni and the next generation of tourism professionals to keep learning, keep preparing, and trust the journey. Your moment will come, be ready for it.
