"There were many instances where St. Rita has really helped me persevere through the challenges that I have faced since I was child. Yet one story of mine still sticks out to me till today. It was my 1st year in high school when the news of my mother’s illness hit our family hard. Every weekend which was supposed to be our rest days turned into endless check-ups. My mother struggled to keep up with the busy schedules she had due to the condition of her body. Night after night I can hear her whimpers of pain, which to me is the worst thing that I have ever heard. The whole family was very down ever since we found out. I remembered an instance where I visited the chapel just to pray to St. Rita. My heart had so much to carry I recall myself crying my heart out while praying. I was full of sadness and anger. I was asking her the reason on why this happened to us. After venting out my frustration I begged St. Rita to help my mother ease the pain that she has. After a week or so, my mother began to improve. She didn’t get dizzy easily anymore, she was able to move around again yet still needing a tad bit of help, and she was able to continue her work. While observing, I was wondering if my prayers were heard or it was the medicine’s work. I decided to believe both. I am forever grateful to St. Rita for helping me and my family face the challenges we went through during that time. My heart will always be thankful to St. Rita’s guidance and love."

𝗗𝗮𝘆 6 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗥𝗶𝘁𝗮 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗮..

Join us today as we continue to journey through the life of Saint Rita of Cascia. Our reflection for this day centers on her religious calling and her deep desire to dedicate her life completely to God. Despite rejection and hardships, Saint Rita remained faithful in prayer and trusted in God’s perfect plan for her life. Through her perseverance, humility, and unwavering faith, she was eventually welcomed into the Augustinian convent, where she lived a life devoted to prayer, service, and love for God.

𝓓𝓪𝔂 6
Religious Calling

After the deaths of her husband and sons, Saint Rita of Cascia desired to dedicate the rest of her life completely to God. She longed to enter the Augustinian convent in Cascia, but the sisters initially refused to admit her because of the ongoing conflict and violence between her family and those involved in her husband’s death. Despite the sorrow, rejection, and hardships she endured, Rita remained steadfast in prayer and faithful to God.

According to tradition, after she helped reconcile the feuding families, her three patron saints—Saint John the Baptist, Saint Augustine of Hippo, and Saint Nicholas of Tolentino—miraculously assisted her in entering the convent while its doors were locked. Recognizing this as a sign of God’s will, the Augustinian sisters finally welcomed her into the community. There, Saint Rita became known for her deep humility, patience, prayerful life, and devotion to serving others, and many miracles were later attributed to her intercession.

𝓡𝓮𝓯𝓵𝓮𝓬𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷
The entry of Saint Rita of Cascia into the Augustinian convent shows that nothing is impossible for those who truly trust in God. Despite rejection, pain, and many difficulties, she remained faithful and prayerful, trusting that God had a greater plan for her life. In His perfect time, God answered her prayers through the miraculous help of the saints and opened the doors that once seemed impossible to enter.

Her story reminds us that setbacks and disappointments should not weaken our faith. There may be moments when we feel rejected, forgotten, or discouraged because things do not happen the way we expect. However, like Saint Rita, we are called to remain patient, hopeful, and steadfast in prayer. God sees our struggles, and He can make a way even when there seems to be none.

Saint Rita’s life teaches us that faith is not about giving up when life becomes difficult, but about continuing to trust God even in uncertain times. Through humility, perseverance, and prayer, impossible situations can become opportunities to witness God’s grace and miracles.

Our reflection for this day centers on her unwavering faith and forgiveness amid the pain of losing her husband and sons. Despite the sorrow and challenges she faced, Saint Rita remained steadfast in choosing peace, compassion, and trust in God.

𝓓𝓪𝔂 5
Forgiveness and Peace

Tragically, Paolo was ambushed and murdered by his former enemies after years of conflict and violence. Despite the pain and sorrow brought by his death, Saint Rita chose the path of forgiveness and openly pardoned those responsible for the crime. However, her suffering did not end there. Her two teenage sons were deeply angered by their father’s death and were pressured by family tradition and the culture of revenge to avenge him. Rita prayed fervently that her sons would turn away from hatred and violence, choosing instead a life guided by faith and peace. In time, both of her sons became ill and passed away before they could carry out any act of revenge. Though burdened by the loss of her husband and children, Rita remained steadfast in her faith in God, becoming a powerful example of forgiveness, patience, and unwavering trust amid life’s greatest trials.

𝓡𝓮𝓯𝓵𝓮𝓬𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷
Though Saint Rita forgave her husband’s killers, her deepest sorrow came from witnessing her teenage sons struggle under the pressure of society’s demand for revenge and bloodshed. This reminds us that forgiveness is never easy, especially when pain and anger surround us. At times, the world encourages us to respond to hurt with more hatred, yet Saint Rita chose peace over vengeance. Her life teaches us that true strength is found not in retaliation, but in trusting God and choosing compassion even in the midst of suffering. In moments of conflict and disappointment, may we also learn to break the cycle of anger and become instruments of forgiveness, healing, and peace.
