๐ง๐ก WHEN KNOWLEDGE BECOMES LIGHT: EMPOWERING KAMAD-AN, ONE FINANCIAL DECISION AT A TIME ๐ก๐ง
A community becomes stronger not only when its needs are addressed, but when its people are equipped with the knowledge and confidence to build a better future for themselves.
This is the heart of โHydrate and Illuminate: Kamad-Anโs Community Resource Enhancementโโa community engagement initiative of Romblon State University โ Romblon Campus, in partnership with the Barangay Government of Ilauran and the Local Government of Romblon.
As the project moves from vision to meaningful action, its Financial Literacy component was successfully launched and conducted, bringing an important conversation to the community: How can we manage financial stress and make wiser choices with the resources we have?
๐ฐ FINANCIAL STRESS. WISE BUDGETING. BETTER DECISIONS.
Led by Mr. Erpie Christ C. Montojo, faculty member of the Business Administration Program, the session focused on financial stress management and wise budgetingโpractical lessons designed to help participants navigate everyday financial challenges with greater awareness and discipline.
Among the practical strategies introduced was the 24-Hour Rule: before purchasing something that is a want, take a pause. Wait 24 hours. Think about it. Ask yourself:
โDo I really need this, or do I simply want it?โ
A simple pause can become a powerful financial habit. A better decision today can contribute to greater financial stability tomorrow.
โจ THIS IS COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT IN ACTION.
The activity demonstrates that extension work is not simply about delivering services. It is about sharing knowledge, building capacity, nurturing ownership, and creating conditions where communities can sustain progress long after an activity ends.
The presence and support of Kagawad Larry Magpusao, representing the barangay government of Ilauran, the Business Administration faculty and administration employees, together with our student leaders and media team, reflected the collective commitment behind this initiative.๐ค
No community transformation happens alone.
Our deepest gratitude goes to our University President, Dr. Merian P. Catajay-Mani, and our campus director, Dr. Ruel Virgil M. Adriguez, as well as to the Barangay Government of Ilauran and the Local Government of Romblon for their support.
We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to the private individuals who generously contributed financial donations to the project. Your generosity has become part of something biggerโa shared investment in the welfare, resilience, and future of the Kamad-An community. ๐
From water access to safer, illuminated spaces, and now to financial empowerment, Hydrate and Illuminate continues to live by its name.
๐ฐ We strengthen financial wisdom.
๐ฑ And together, we cultivate a more empowered and sustainable future.
Because true extension service is not measured only by what we give.
It is measured by what the community learns, what it gains, what it sustains, and what it becomes.โจ
