Joyme Sequita announced his retirement from the national team, leaving behind a trail of triumphs and records that have defined his athletic journey.
The Filamerian alumnus' crowning achievement came during the 2023 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Cambodia, where he and his team not only clocked in a new Philippine record but also clinched the gold medal.
With a career brimming in excellence, the track sensation's feats reverberated across the track and field landscape.
His record-breaking run in the 2018 UAAP Men's 400m event, clocking in at an impressive 47.52, set the stage for a series of victories, leading to two-time golds in the 2018 and 2019 Philippine Open Championships for the Men's 400m event.
Venturing onto the international stage, Sequita's prowess shone brightly, capturing the gold medal at the 2022 Singapore Open Track and Field Championships in the 4x400m Relay, the bronze medal at the 2022 Vietnam SEA Games in the Mixed 4x400m Relay, followed by a silver medal at the 2023 Singaporean Open Championships in the 4x400m Relay.
Culminating in glory, his plaque got heavier at the 2023 Asian Athletics Championships, where he claimed the coveted gold medal in the 4x400m Relay.
Sequita graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Criminology at Filamer Christian University in 2018.
