In celebration of Aklanβs 70th Founding Anniversary, the Province of Aklan proudly hosted the 2026 Kapusod Imaw: Aklan - Capiz- Romblon Cultural Exchange on April 28, 2026, at the Aklan Provincial Capitol Facade in Kalibo.
The βKapusod Imaw Cultural Exchangeβ began in 2024 in Roxas City, Capiz, and continued in 2025 in the Province of Aklan. In 2026, the initiative expanded with the participation of the Province of Romblon, completing the Kapusod circle once more.
Rooted in history, Aklan and Romblon were once part of Capiz. In 1917, Romblon regained its independence, while Aklan became a separate province in 1956 through Republic Act No. 1414, signed by President Ramon Magsaysay.
The program opened with a heartfelt welcome message from the Provincial Government of Aklan, led by Governor Jose Enrique M. Miraflores. Joining the celebration were delegates from Capiz, headed by Governor Fredenil Castro and represented by Vice Governor Jaime O. Magbanua, and from Romblon, led by Governor Trina Firmalo-Fabic and represented by Mr. Kim Anthony F. Faderon, Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Officer. A symbolic exchange of tokens and messages followed that reflected the shared commitment to preserve and celebrate their heritage together in the coming years.
Uniting on one stage, the Provinces of Aklan, Capiz, and Romblon delivered a vibrant cultural showcase of poetry, songs, dances, and string ensemble performances that carry different stories of home, identity, and pride passed down through generations.
The event also marked the official launch of the βnew Feel Alive, Feel Aklan,β the provinceβs tourism song, culminating in a dazzling fireworks display that closed the evening in a spirit of solidarity and renewed partnership.
A celebration that feels like coming home. Truly, a reunion to remember and treasure.
The Province of Romblon returns to the embrace of its Kapusod family, Aklan and Capiz, where shared stories, traditions, and aspirations continue to bind three provinces as one heartbeat, one Kapusod.
