𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐔𝐧𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲: 𝐁𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐬 𝐅𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐚𝐦𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐜𝐤

The Burias Fighting Rams remain atop the partial and unofficial medal tally of the 19th University Sportsfest and Conference of Capiz State University (CAPSU), with 20 golds, 12 silvers, and 12 bronzes for a total of 44 medals, based on results recorded as of 6:30 a.m. on October 15, 2026.

Roxas Builders follows in second place with 13 golds, 12 silvers, and 3 bronzes. Roxas Builders and Dayao Dolphins are tied at 13 golds each, but Roxas City edges ahead on silver count. Dayao Dolphins, meanwhile, has the most medals overall with 46, powered by 22 bronzes.

Pilar Phoenix (11 golds) and Sigma Mighty Foxes (10 golds) round out the top five, followed by Pontevedra Golden Lions, Dumarao Fierce Falcons, and Mambusao Howling Wolves. Tapaz Roaring Maroons, with 12 silvers and 8 bronzes, is still chasing its first gold.

Rankings are based on gold, then silver, then bronze medals, and remain subject to change as additional results are recorded and verified. The medal tally is partial and unofficial and remains subject to final validation and confirmation.

Capiz State University (CAPSU) proudly congratulates Brian Bendo of CAPSU Main Campus for securing 2nd Place in the 30th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) Regional Championship, held in Iloilo City on October 14, 2026.

Together with his coach, Engr. Danny Dave Fabiaña, Brian demonstrated his knowledge, perseverance, and commitment to academic excellence in a competition that brought together student delegates from colleges and universities across the region.

This achievement reflects the dedication of CAPSU students to intellectual growth and excellence beyond the classroom. It also highlights the important role of mentors and academic institutions in nurturing students' potential and preparing them to excel in their chosen fields.

CAPSU commends Brian and Engr. Fabiaña for this remarkable accomplishment and extends its congratulations to all Capiz delegates who represented the province in this year's competition.

𝐂𝐀𝐏𝐒𝐔 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐚𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐈𝐂𝐓’𝐬 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐖𝐢-𝐅𝐢 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐳

Officials and representatives from local and national government agencies gathered at the Capiz State University (CAPSU) Roxas City Main Campus’ Dadivas Gymnasium on October 14, 2026, for the ceremonial launch of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) “Free Wi-Fi for All” program in the Province of Capiz.

Atty. Toche Vic B. Doce, OIC of the Office of the Vice President for Administration and Finance, welcomed guests on behalf of CAPSU President Dr. Efren L. Linan. He was joined by key university officials, including Dr. Salvacion J. Legaspi, Vice President for External Affairs and Linkages; Prof. Malou B. Albor, Director for International and National Affairs; Dr. Cleo Jude A. Joaquin, Focal Person for the Main Campus; Dr. Rodyard B. Madiclum, Burias Campus Administrator; Dr. Ricky D. Fecara, Tapaz Satellite College Director; and Dr. Jennifer P. Benliro, Pilar Satellite College Director.

Several local government officials delivered messages of support, including Gov. Fredenil H. Castro, ably represented by Atty. Stephen T. Alquiza; 1st District Representative Howard A. Guintu; 2nd District Representative Jane T. Castro; and Dr. Roel F. Bermejo, CESO V, Superintendent of the Department of Education - Schools Division Office of Capiz.

DICT officials also highlighted the vision and impact of the program. Engr. John Felix T. Torino, Focal Person of the Free Public Internet Access Program for Region VI, explained the rationale of the project; Dir. Edgar M. Navarro, Assistant Project Director, delivered the keynote message; and Dir. Gymeo Y. Sollano, OIC Regional Director of DICT Region VI, concluded the event with closing remarks.

The event reached its highlight when the officials onstage pressed the ceremonial button, symbolically activating the 175 locations and 493 access points across the province. This includes coverage across CAPSU’s 3 campuses and 6 satellite colleges. The project was realized through the joint coordination of the offices of Governor Castro, Congressman Guintu, Congressman Castro and the DICT.

Established under Republic Act No. 10929, also known as the Free Internet Access in Public Places Act, the program aims to provide reliable, secure and free internet access in key public locations nationwide-including public schools, state universities, government offices, parks and plazas and other public spaces.

Through this initiative, students and residents of Capiz gain easier access to digital learning tools, essential public online services, and broader economic opportunities.

Capiz State University (CAPSU) conducted a benchmarking visit to Philippine Normal University North Luzon (PNU-NL) on October 12–13, 2026, as part of its efforts to strengthen Indigenous Peoples education and curriculum development.

The CAPSU delegation included Dr. Ronilo G. Berondo, Director for Human Resource Training and Development and Officer-in-Charge/Head of CAPSU Sapian; Dr. Hazel Joaquin, Director for Instruction; and Dr. Rossandrew Villaruel, Director for Quality Assurance.

Capiz State University (CAPSU) takes a significant step toward advancing organic agriculture as Dr. Salvacion J. Legaspi, Vice President for External Affairs and Linkages, earns a place on the shortlist for Agricultural Colleges and Universities (ACU) Representative to the National Organic Agriculture Board (NOAB) for Calendar Years 2026 – 2029.

The selection process recognizes CAPSU’s contributions to organic agriculture through instruction, research, extension, and production. As part of the assessment, the NOAB Evaluation Panel conducted an onsite validation at CAPSU from October 8 to 10, 2026, to evaluate the University’s programs, facilities, production areas, research initiatives, and extension activities.

The validation included visits to the CAPSU Burias Organic Project, the Crop and Soil Science Laboratory, Bugtong Farm in Sapian, and the organic chicken production project at CAPSU Pontevedra Campus. These activities provided opportunities to assess the University’s accomplishments, technology transfer initiatives, capacity-building efforts, and partnerships with agricultural stakeholders.

The visiting delegation was composed of Dr. Juanito T. Batalon, Deputy Executive Director of the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD); Mr. Vince Ivan Paul D. Gamboa, Project Technical Specialist at DOST-PCAARRD; Ms. Ciara Mae P. Dela Cruz, Project Technical Assistant IV at DOST-PCAARRD; and Mr. Mark Matubang of the Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (BAFS).

Also present during the field validation was Dr. Stephanie S. Pimentel, CAPSU Research Director, alongside other university officials and personnel who provided support and assistance throughout the assessment.

Dr. Legaspi’s inclusion in the shortlist brings attention to CAPSU’s continuing work in supporting sustainable agricultural practices and strengthening the role of academic institutions in the country’s organic agriculture sector.

As the selection process moves forward, CAPSU remains committed to advancing research-based agricultural development, empowering farming communities, and contributing to the growth of organic agriculture in the Philippines.

From the University to the agricultural sector, CAPSU continues to turn knowledge into practice and research into meaningful contributions to sustainable agriculture.

A celebration of athletic excellence, sportsmanship, and unity across the university system took center stage as Capiz State University (CAPSU) formally opened the 19th University Sportsfest and Conference, Hinampang sa CAPSU Pontevedra 2026, on October 12 at the CAPSU Pontevedra Campus in Bailan, Pontevedra, Capiz.

Running from October 12 to 15, the four-day gathering brings together athletes, coaches, and delegates from across the CAPSU system for a celebration that goes beyond competition, highlighting the values of discipline, camaraderie, and a shared identity as CAPSUnians.
