Benchmarking Toward Quality and Excellence
On September 5, 2025, faculty members from PSU Coron Campus visited PSU Roxas Campus for a benchmarking activity focused on ISO certification processes and accreditation readiness. The team was welcomed at the Campus Quality Assurance Office, where the QA Coordinator discussed essential documents and strategic preparations for the Level II Re-accreditation of academic programs.

Led by Prof. Juwelyn P. Fabon, Campus Director of Coron, and Mr. Justine P. Vicera, (Siir Justine) designated ISO and QA Coordinator, the delegation showed genuine commitment to learning and continuous improvement.

A key highlight of the benchmarking activity was the comprehensive discussion on accreditation document preparation, led by Mr. Mark Anthony C. Preconcillo, Campus Quality Assurance Coordinator of PSU Roxas. The session focused on the narrative profile outline for Level III AACCUP accreditation, offering valuable insights into standards-aligned documentation and institutional best practices.

This was followed by an interactive interview with the focal persons of PSU Roxas, where delegates from PSU Narra engaged in meaningful dialogue, clarifying processes and exploring strategies for quality assurance.

The activity culminated in a briefing and sharing of best practices, reinforcing our shared commitment to academic excellence, transparency, and continuous improvement.

We were honored to host the benchmarking activity of Palawan State University – Narra Campus, held at PSU Roxas Campus, in pursuit of continuous improvement and institutional excellence.

The program commenced with the National Anthem led by Ma’am Jelly C. Daquipil, Adviser of OHMS, followed by the singing of the PSU Hymn and Roxas March led by Sir Mark Jude P. Cardejon, Adviser of YEO.

A warm Welcome Remarks was delivered by Dr. Flornita N. Ferrer, followed by an uplifting intermission number from our talented BSHM students. Dr. Anabell A. Gacayan, Dean of the Oriental Cluster, then shared an inspiring message on collaboration and quality assurance.

Prof. Jenny P. Sangalang, Quality Assurance Coordinator, introduced the focal persons of PSU Narra, while Sir Mark Anthony C. Preconcillo, Quality Assurance Coordinator, presented the focal persons of PSU Roxas.

The core of the activity focused on the discussion of accreditation document preparation, including the narrative profile outline for Level III AACCUP accreditation. Visiting delegates were also given the opportunity to interview focal persons, engage in briefings, and exchange best practices.

The event concluded with a campus tour and facilities showcase, highlighting PSU Roxas Campus’ commitment to quality, innovation, and student-centered development.

Day 2 | Presentation of the Crafted Strategic Plan 2026–2030

Faculty representatives proudly presented the outputs of their collaborative efforts during the breakout sessions, showcasing well-crafted Strategic Plans for 2026–2030 aligned with AACCUP accreditation standards.

Prof. Rovelia U. Aumenta, together with Ms. Genny Ann B. Socrates, presented the strategic plan for the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) program.
Dr. John Paul D. Reloj shared the strategic direction of the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) program.
Mr. Frank Mecel A. Dimalanta presented the comprehensive plan for the Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) program.

These presentations were followed by valuable suggestions and recommendations from a panel of critics composed of Dr. Flornita N. Ferrer, Dr. Roderick Derecho, and Prof. Rovelia U. Aumenta, further enhancing the strategic outputs toward accreditation readiness and institutional excellence.

Faculty members from the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED), Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Social Studies (BSED), Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Human Resource Management (BSBA-HRM), Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM), and Bachelor of Science in Criminology actively participated in the Day 2 breakout sessions.

Each team collaborated in crafting their Program Strategic Plans, ensuring alignment with the AACCUP Level IV and Level III Accreditation Criteria. The session highlighted the collective commitment of PSU Roxas faculty to quality assurance, forward-thinking strategies, and continuous program improvement.

Day 2 commenced with a brief recap of Day 1 activities, setting the tone for another productive day of strategic engagement.

Session 3: Setting Strategic Goals, Outcomes & KPIs by Area
Delivered by Dr. Flornita N. Ferrer, Campus Director, this session guided faculty and program leaders in defining clear goals, measurable outcomes, and performance indicators that will drive program development over the next five years.

Session 4: Alignment with AACCUP Level IV Criteria and National Development Goals
Mr. Mark Anthony C. Preconcillo, Campus Quality Assurance Coordinator, presented a detailed framework for aligning institutional plans with accreditation standards, CHED mandates, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The workshop continues to strengthen PSU Roxas Campus' commitment to excellence, innovation, and global competitiveness.

The first day of the Strategic Planning Workshop 2025 culminated with a plenary session featuring the presentation of SWOT Analysis outputs from each academic program. This activity showcased the collective efforts of faculty members in identifying key strategic directions in preparation for higher-level accreditation.

In the afternoon of Day 1, faculty members actively participated in Session 2: Focus Group Discussions per Area. This breakout session provided a dynamic platform for collaborative brainstorming as participants examined their program’s current landscape through a detailed SWOT Analysis.

After lunch, program teams proceeded to designated breakout rooms to assess their respective strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats — a critical step in shaping long-range development plans aligned with accreditation requirements.

This session empowered faculty members to reflect on institutional performance, quality assurance priorities, and future directions as PSU Roxas Campus prepares for Level III and Level IV AACCUP Accreditation.

Theme: “Shaping the Future: Advancing Excellence through Strategic Academic Leadership”

The Strategic Planning Workshop 2025 officially opened with a strong commitment to excellence and quality assurance, setting the tone for two days of institutional reflection, academic collaboration, and forward-thinking planning.

Mr. Mark Anthony C. Preconcillo, Campus Quality Assurance Coordinator, opened the program by presenting the workshop’s rationale and objectives — emphasizing the need for structured, evidence-based planning in preparation for AACCUP Level III and IV Accreditation.

A powerful keynote address titled “Strategic Planning for Excellence and Accreditation” was delivered by Mr. Gregorio P. Rodriguez, Administrative Officer V of the Oriental Cluster, underscoring the essential link between strategic vision, institutional effectiveness, and accreditation outcomes.

Session 1 featured a critical Environmental Scanning and Institutional SWOT Analysis facilitated by Dr. Flornita N. Ferrer, Campus Director of PSU Roxas Campus. The session guided participants through identifying key strengths, challenges, opportunities, and threats in their respective programs as the foundation for strategic goal setting.

This dynamic opening day laid the groundwork for aligning PSU Roxas Campus’ academic directions with CHED mandates, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and AACCUP Level IV accreditation criteria.

Faculty members of Palawan State University Roxas Campus eagerly registered and gathered for the opening day of the Strategic Planning Workshop 2025 — a milestone initiative led by the Campus Quality Assurance Office in pursuit of academic excellence and institutional quality.

Anchored on the goal of achieving Level IV Accreditation through the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), this initiative aims to strategically prepare the following programs:

Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED)
Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Social Studies (BSED Soc Stud)
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration – Human Resource Management (BSBA-HRM)
Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM)
And the Bachelor of Science in Criminology (BSCRIM) for Level III Accreditation

Level IV accreditation represents the highest distinction in program quality — emphasizing excellence in instruction, research, extension, international linkages, graduate performance, and most importantly, a well-developed planning process.

This workshop serves as a collaborative platform for faculty members and academic leaders to contribute to institutional planning aligned with national development goals, CHED directives, and global educational standards. It also highlights the critical role of long-range development planning as a key component of AACCUP’s evaluation criteria.

Through this planning process, faculty members are empowered to take part in shaping the strategic directions of their respective programs — ensuring PSU Roxas remains a stronghold of quality higher education in the region.
