𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐓𝐇 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐏𝐄𝐀𝐂𝐄, 𝐂𝐋𝐈𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐄, 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐓𝐘

The 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗨𝗦𝗚) proudly participated in the 𝙂𝙡𝙤𝙗𝙖𝙡 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙝 𝙎𝙪𝙢𝙢𝙞𝙩 held on August 17, 2026, at the 𝗦𝗸𝘆 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹, 𝗦𝗠 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗱.

The summit brought together young people, community leaders, advocates, and development partners to inspire meaningful conversations and collective action toward a more peaceful, inclusive, and sustainable future.

The program featured messages from Ms. Mary Jane Losaria, Mall Manager; Mr. Kier Aventurado, Program Director for Youth Development of Global Peace Foundation Philippines; Ms. Ederlyn A. Samsom, RSW, Social Welfare Officer of the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental; and Mr. Jonathan Diaz Jr., Executive Assistant from the Office of the City Mayor of Bacolod City, representing Hon. Greg Gasataya, City Mayor.

The USG also gained valuable insights from the summit's sessions led by Dr. Donalyn G. Lastima, LPT, RPM, RGC, RPSY, President of Rotary Club of Bacolod-Marapara; John Drick M. Dormis, Program Manager of Negrosanon Initiative for Climate and the Environment, Inc. (NICE); and Joakim Isyru A. Decena, Wildlife Educator of Negros Forest Park.

As student leaders, we recognize that meaningful change begins with informed, empowered, and engaged young people. May the conversations and lessons from this summit inspire us to become leaders who advocate for peace, protect our environment, and create positive change in our communities.

With the theme "𝘗𝘈𝘎𝘉𝘈𝘒𝘜𝘋: 𝘚𝘦𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘛𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘓𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱, 𝘎𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘚𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦," the caravan gathered student leaders from various Higher Education Institutions across the region for a day of learning, dialogue, and collaboration.

The program began with Welcoming Remarks from 𝗗𝗿. 𝗥𝗮𝗹𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗗. 𝗝𝗼𝗰𝘀𝗼𝗻, 𝗝𝗿., 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗼𝘀𝘁. This was followed by three insightful sessions:

Through lectures, discussions, and leadership activities, the STG Caravan reaffirmed our commitment to developing ethical, competent, and socially responsible student leaders who will contribute meaningfully to nation-building.

‎The SUNN University Student Government joined the Freshmen Walk and Flag Ceremony at the Agribusiness Laga-an Campus, welcoming the freshmen and engaging with the university community as they began a new academic chapter.

The program featured messages from distinguished university officials, including Dr. Samson M. Lausa, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Innovation, who delivered the Opening Message; Ms. Ailyn C. Cogonon, OIC of Laga-an Campus, who shared an Inspirational Message; and Sir Romnick D. Catatista, Department Head of Agribusiness Laga-an Campus, who delivered the Closing Remarks.

‎Hon. Mark Dane M. De la Peña, Executive Finance and Logistics Officer, represented the USG and delivered the University Student Government Message, highlighting the role of student leaders in representing students and promoting meaningful participation within the university.

‎The USG also recognized Hon. Bonivie T. Buenafe, Senator for Socio-Civic Affairs; Hon. Reign T. Barasan, Senator for Sports Affairs; Hon. Edu D. Todocio, Associate Justice; and Percel B. Ceñete, Committee Member for Sports, for dedicating their time and effort to travel to the Laga-an Campus and support the activity.

‎On August 10, 2026, the SUNN - Main Campus officially began the Academic Year for 2026-2027 with the 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴. 🙌

‎The 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 helped with 𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘻𝘪𝘯𝘨 and 𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 the program in order to ensure its success.

‎The Freshie Walk was met with loud reception, with the freshmen students strutting in their best ASEAN-inspired and college color attires. Additionally, the program was smooth-sailing, with a touching Welcoming Message from the University President, Dr. Renante Egcas, and intermission numbers from the respective colleges of CBM, CHAS, and COED.

‎Underpinning the goal of the Institutional Welcoming—to welcome the arrival of a new academic year and include the ASEAN in celebrating it—the efforts of the USG and its volunteers were fruitful.
