April 08, 2026 β The Clinic Services Unit of Samal Island City College, in collaboration with the City Veterinary Office, successfully conducted a CatchβNeuterβVaccinateβRelease (CNVR) activity alongside a Free Anti-Rabies Vaccination and Pet Registration Drive at the SICC Gymnasium. The event drew participation from SICC personnel, students, and residents of Island Garden City of Samal, all demonstrating strong support for responsible pet ownership and community health initiatives.
The CNVR program is recognized as a humane and sustainable strategy for managing stray dog and cat populations, aiming to control overpopulation while reducing potential public health risks. Concurrently, the anti-rabies vaccination and pet registration initiatives were carried out to strengthen efforts toward rabies eradication through mass immunization, establish a reliable monitoring and surveillance system, and further promote responsible pet ownership within the community.
The successful implementation of the activity was made possible through the full support of the Local Government Unit β City Veterinary Office (LGUβCVET), headed by Dr. Edunel Sala; the SICC Administration, led by Dr. Jennifer C. Gonzaga, LPT, CMITAP; the Student Services and Development Section (SSDS), under the leadership of Richard S. Jimenez, DevEd-GC, RGC, RPm; and the assistance of the Supreme Student Council (SSC) and the Gender and Development Unit (GAD).
The Clinic Services Unit, led by Merje S. Abcede, RN, extended its gratitude to the SICC community for their active participation, emphasizing that collective efforts such as these contribute significantly to building a safer, healthier, and more responsible environment for both people and animals. //J.A
