‎Sounds funny, right? 😂 But behind every quiet leaf is a busy world of gas exchange, food production, and energy metabolism.

‎From breaking glucose down during glycolysis, converting pyruvate into acetyl-CoA during pyruvate oxidation, generating electron carriers in the Krebs cycle, and finally producing much of the ATP through the electron transport chain—every step has a role in supplying usable energy to the cell. 🌱⚡

Unlocking the secrets of plant life, one experiment at a time! 🧬✨
Yesterday, September 11, 2026, as Crop Science majors, we successfully performed a DNA extraction experiment using everyday household items on banana and dragon fruit specimens. Seeing the stringy DNA strands precipitate out was such a rewarding experience for all of us! 🌾🔬

Special thanks to Prof. Clifford Jay Ruba for guiding us through the process and helping us connect the science of genetics with real-world crop applications. Onward to more hands-on learning! 💚🌱

Rain didn't slow us down! 🌧️🌱

Today, our Crop Science class stepped out into the field for a hands-on lab in asexual plant propagation. We put our skills to the test with marcotting (air-layering) on calamansi trees (Citrus × microcarpa) to encourage root development right on the branch, and grafting on colorful San Francisco (Codiaeum variegatum) plants to combine the best traits of different stems. ✂️🌿

Doing field work under the drizzle made the experience even more memorable! A big thank you to our instructor, Ms. Lovely Barrientos, for leading us through a productive outdoor lab and guiding our hands-on technique.

Learning Through Laboratory Experience! 🌱

Today, we, the Crop Science Majors, had a meaningful hands-on experience in our Crop Physiology and Plant Growth Laboratory Exercises, where we explored seed morphology, seed physiology, and germination. 🌱🔬

Through observation and actual laboratory activities, we gained a deeper understanding of how seeds are structured, how they function, and how the germination process begins. It was another valuable experience that allowed us to connect what we learned in the classroom with actual agricultural science. ❤️🌾

Another day of learning, discovering, and growing as future Crop Scientists! 🌱❤️✊
