Reggie Adam M. Abubo and faculty adviser Dr. Lady Mae B. Calderon officially assumed their leadership roles in the Supreme Government of the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-Mid La Union Campus (DMMMSU-MLUC) on July 6 for the current academic year.

The transition marks a notable alignment for the campus, as both the Supreme Governor and the council adviser hail from the College of Management (COM). The duo aims to use their shared academic background to bring a strategic and efficient approach to how the student council operates and manages its resources.

In an exclusive interview, the leadership team laid out their core plans for the student body. “Habang finafinalize namin ang aming operational plan, ipagpapatuloy namin ang mga proyektong naging effective at magi-introduce rin kami ng mga bagong initiatives na mas makaka-address sa current needs ng students,” Abubo said.

To ensure this strategic direction, Abubo committed to empowering the students by making sure their voices are heard. “Ang priority namin ay tugunan ang mga matagal nang concerns ng mga estudyante habang patuloy ding nag-iintroduce ng new opportunities,” he added, detailing the council's primary focus.

Meanwhile, Dr. Calderon outlined her approach to maintaining institutional continuity while pushing for growth. “I am challenging this new set of officers not to be mere caretakers of that legacy, but to innovate and introduce strategic changes,” Calderon said, setting her expectations for a shift in governance style.

She further challenged the leadership to engage deeply with the everyday experiences of the studentry, emphasizing the need for grassroots-level initiatives. “True representation means ensuring that every activity we plan is genuinely felt on the ground, and that no single student is left unheard,” she said.

With a management-driven leadership now in place, the council aims to deliver concrete results and efficient governance in the coming months. #

College of Management Oath Taking Ceremony 2026

A new chapter of leadership officially begins as the newly elected Student Body Organization (SBO) and Student Organization (SO) officers of the College of Management formally took their oath of office on July 13, 2026, at the COM-Audio Visual Room.

This ceremony signifies more than the assumption of positions—it is a solemn commitment to uphold accountability, integrity, and service above self. Witnessed by our respected department chairpersons and SBO & SO Advisers, this milestone marks the beginning of a journey dedicated to meaningful leadership and positive change within our college community.

In his opening remarks, PSBO Governor Reggie Adam M. Abubo reminded his fellow officers that leadership goes beyond titles and shared these words: "Ti pudno a panangipangulo ket panagserbi." ("True leadership is service.").

Meanwhile, leading the induction ceremony was College Dean Dr. Tiffany Ruth R. Quinitip, who emphasized that their roles demand deep commitment and care. She encouraged the officers to carry the college’s identity as the place "where future leaders grow" not just as a saying, but as a standard to live up to each day. Above all, she called on them to uphold the principle of "service above self"—reminding them that true leadership means giving their all for the good of the community they serve.

The program concluded with the closing remarks of Dr. Lady Mae B. Calderon, PSBO Adviser, who reminded the newly inducted officers that leadership is not merely a position to hold but a responsibility to serve and make a meaningful impact within the COMmunity.

Reggie Adam M. Abubo, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Financial Management from the College of Management, was elected Supreme Governor of the Campus Student Body Organization (CSBO) of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University – Mid La Union Campus (DMMMSU-MLUC) for the Academic Year 2026–2027 after securing a landslide victory in the election among the seven Provincial Student Body Organization (PSBO) Governors. The election was held on July 6, 2026, at the university's Conference Room during the organizational meeting of the newly elected student leaders.

Abubo, who represents the College of Management, earned the overwhelming support of his fellow governors, entrusting him with the responsibility of leading and coordinating the governors of the university's seven colleges. As Supreme Governor, he will serve as the primary link between the college governments and the Campus Student Body Organization, promoting collaboration and ensuring that the concerns of every college are represented at the campus level.

Abubo outlined the principles that will guide his tenure as Supreme Governor, emphasizing responsive leadership, accountability, and student-centered governance. Before assuming the position, Abubo was elected as Governor of the Provincial Student Body Organization (PSBO) of the College of Management for Academic Year 2026–2027. His election marks another milestone in a student leadership journey characterized by consistent service and increasing responsibility.

Abubo previously served as PSBO Auditor during Academic Year 2024–2025 and PSBO Treasurer during Academic Year 2025–2026. As he officially begins his term as Supreme Governor, Abubo is expected to work closely with the newly elected CSBO officers under the leadership of Chairperson Shannen C. Villacorta further strengthened student representation and collaborative governance throughout DMMMSU-MLUC during the Academic Year 2026–2027.

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Marketing Management, Shannen C. Villacorta of the College of Management has been elected as the Chairperson of the Campus Student Body Organization (CSBO) of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University – Mid La Union Campus (DMMMSU-MLUC) for the Academic Year 2026–2027 after garnering 5,850 votes. The election placed Villacorta in the highest student leadership position on the campus, entrusting her with representing and advancing the welfare of the university's student body.

The transition of leadership was formally completed on July 6, 2026, when the newly elected CSBO officers took their oath of office before Chancellor Alvin R. Malicdem, officially marking the beginning of the new administration. During the ceremony, the officers pledged to uphold student rights, promote campus welfare, and strengthen student representation through responsible and transparent governance.

Villacorta emphasized that leadership is rooted in service rather than authority. Villacorta brings prior experience to the position, having served as Vice Chairperson of the CSBO. She assumed the role following the election of former Vice Chairperson Jorge Daniel Malapit as University Student Council President during the Academic Year 2025–2026, the highest student leadership position at the university system level. Her previous service is expected to provide continuity and strengthen ongoing student-centered initiatives.

Former SBO officer Erwin Angelo Boado donated ten yellow polo shirt uniforms to selected students of the College of Management on July 3, 2026, at the Dean’s Office, benefiting students from four academic programs. The turnover was conducted in the presence of College of Management Dean, Dr. Tiffany Ruth R. Quinitip, the four department chairpersons, and PSBO officers. The donation aims to provide uniforms that will support and assist deserving students from the college.

The donated uniforms were distributed among the College of Management’s academic programs, with three (3) allocated to Hospitality Management, three (3) to Business Administration, two (2) to Office Administration, and two (2) to Public Administration. The initiative reflects a commitment to promoting student welfare and extending assistance across the different departments within the college.

Present during the turnover ceremony were Dr. Tiffany Ruth R. Quinitip, Dean of the College of Management, together with the department chairpersons: Prof. Daniel B. Gacayan (BSBA), Prof. Annaliza B. Legaspi (BSOA), Prof. Zhelyn A. Hufana (BSHM), and Dr. Herminaldo Estilong (BPA). Also witnessing the event were PSBO Governor Mr. Reggie Adam Abubo and former PSBO Vice Governor Mr. Justine C. Arbollente, highlighting the continued collaboration between student leaders and the college administration.

The donation by Boado exemplifies the enduring spirit of service and leadership among former student officers. His contribution serves as an inspiration for alumni and student leaders to continue supporting initiatives that benefit the academic community and foster a culture of generosity and shared responsibility within the College of Management.
