We use these words all the time when we talk about our teachers. But honestly, even the best descriptions fall a little short. At the end of the day, a teacher is simply someone who chooses to show up for us, giving away their time, energy, and patience just to help us grow into better versions of ourselves. Behind every lesson plan, every reminder, every correction, and every word of encouragement is a real person choosing us, day after day.
Every October 5th, we celebrate World Teachersโ Day. Itโs a moment to slow down and really think about the people who helped shape how we see the world and how we see ourselves.
As students, our teachers naturally become a huge part of our lives. They see us when weโre lost during a tough topic, when we mess up, or when we just feel like giving up. Theyโre also the first to celebrate when we finally get it right. We might not always show it, but sometimes a simple, genuine word of encouragement, โKakayanin โnak!โ, is the exact push we need to try just one more time.
Showing appreciation doesn't take grand gestures or expensive gifts. Most of the time, itโs in the small things. Listening when they speak, respecting their time, putting in genuine effort, and saying a simple, honest "thank you" not just on Teachers' Day, but whenever we feel it. Honestly, seeing us grow, succeed, and become better human beings is often the greatest thank-you we could ever give them.
Years from now, we might forget the complex formulas, the dates, or the lecture notes we scribbled down. But we will never forget the teacher who stayed patient when we were struggling, the one who picked us up when we were ready to give up, and the one who believed in us long before we believed in ourselves.
To every teacher who has been part of our story, thank you. Thank you for your patience, your quiet sacrifices, and your unshakeable faith in us. Your hard work isn't always easy, and it isn't always noticed, but please know, it matters more than youโll ever know!
