The 𝗜𝗡𝗡𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘 𝗦𝗧𝗨𝗗𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗣𝗘𝗧𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲: 𝗔𝗕𝗔𝗖𝗔 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗚𝗘 invites currently enrolled students of the ParSU College of Agribusiness and Community Development (CACD) to turn abaca into practical and innovative products!

Organized by the ParSU College of Agribusiness and Community Development through its Agribusiness Incubation Center and the CACD Student Council, in partnership with DA-PhilFIDA for the SACPaD-FIBER Extension Program and the Center for Bioresource-based Enterprise Development, the competition provides students an opportunity to contribute to the development of abaca, one of the campus’s priority commodities.

Join individually or form a team of up to five students. Develop a new product or meaningfully improve an existing one using abaca fiber, pulp, waste, or other abaca-derived materials. Entries may include packaging, fashion accessories, household items, farm-use products, and other practical innovations.

To join, submit a completed entry form and a labeled product prototype by November 12, 2026. A full business plan is not required. Each student may participate in only one entry, with one product per individual or team.

Mark these dates:

• November 12, 2026: Deadline for entry form and prototype submission
• November 16–17, 2026: Product exhibit and evaluation
• November 17, 2026: Announcement of the top five finalists
• November 19, 2026: Final pitch and awarding of winners

All eligible entries will proceed to the product exhibit. Only the top five will advance to the final pitch.

𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 | 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐚 𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬’ 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬

Twenty-one abaca farmers and leaders participated in a seminar-workshop held on October 14, 2026, at Barangay Balaynan, Goa, Camarines Sur, as part of the third component of SACPaD-FIBER, a banner extension program of Partido State University College of Agribusiness and Community Development.

Dr. Calyd T. Cerio, College Extension Coordinator and Director of the Center for Bioresource-based Enterprise Development, shared insights from his research through the Bikol module “Papapakusog kan Samahan kan mga Parauma nin Abaca.” The discussion connected research findings with practical ways to strengthen farmers’ organizations and encourage member participation.

A workshop facilitated by CACD faculty members followed, focusing on registration updates, governance, and the adoption of seed-derived abaca planting materials. Participants discussed their organizations’ concerns and identified actions moving forward. CACD non-teaching personnel provided secretariat support throughout the activity.

The community engagement was conducted in partnership with DA-PhilFIDA, the Partido Abaca Farmers Association, and Barangay Balaynan, Goa, Camarines Sur.

Following the earlier announcement of asynchronous classes under Office of the University President Memorandum No. 353, s. 2026, regular classes and academic activities at the College of Agribusiness and Community Development (CACD) will continue as scheduled on October 12–17, 2026.

Office of the College Dean Memorandum No. 57, s. 2026, reiterating OUP Memorandum No. 362, s. 2026, clarifies that asynchronous learning at CACD applies only to classes using the modern classrooms and to dormitory occupants.

Selected College facilities, including the dormitory, modern classrooms, students’ center, and accreditation room, will serve as billeting quarters and support facilities for delegations during the Regional SCUAA Meet, hosted by Partido State University.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘀?

The study, “Does Cash Holdings Influence the Firm Value of Philippine Public Companies Under the Industrial Sector: Evidence from Panel Data,” examined 18 publicly listed industrial companies using data from 2013–2017.

Key findings show that:

• Higher net profit margins were associated with higher firm value.
• Longer inventory conversion periods were associated with lower firm value, highlighting the importance of managing inventory efficiently.
• Firm size and return on assets were negatively associated with firm value, suggesting that larger assets and accounting returns do not necessarily translate into higher market valuation.

The findings offer insights for managers and investors on the importance of profitability, working capital efficiency, and careful resource allocation.
