If Day 1 of the Dalubhasaan ng Lunsod ng San Pablo (DLSP) In-Service Training (INSET) 2026 set the institutionโs direction through plenary sessions, institutional mapping, discussions on inclusive digital learning, gender-responsive education, and the Four-Fold Functions of Higher Education, Day 2 translated that direction into something deeply humanโteamwork, cooperation, dialogue, appreciation, and a renewed sense of community.
Held on August 13, 2026 at the Rizal Re-Creation Center (RRC), Rizal, Laguna, the second day of the INSET carried forward the theme โ๐๐ก๐๐ฉ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐
๐ฎ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐-๐ซ๐๐๐๐ฒ ๐๐๐ฎ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง: ๐๐๐ง๐๐๐ซ-๐๐๐ฌ๐ฉ๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐ข๐ฏ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ซ๐ข๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ฆ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ง๐ง๐จ๐ฏ๐๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐๐๐๐ซ๐ง๐ข๐ง๐ .โ
The morning began with Team Building Activity 1, facilitated by Mr. Jhuncel M. Deriquito, Acting Assistant Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and Director for Alumni Affairs. Using yarn as a simple but meaningful symbol of connection, members of each college and unit gave a portion of the yarn to another member as a gesture of appreciation, reflecting the idea that work becomes lighter and more meaningful when colleagues support one another.
The interconnected strands eventually formed a beautiful web of crisscrossing patterns. When three members were asked to let go of their portions, however, the carefully formed pattern became a tangled mess. They were then asked to reclaim and hold the portions they had releasedโillustrating a powerful lesson: when individuals withdraw their support or fail to perform their part, the collective effort can easily become disorganized; but when everyone cooperates and takes responsibility, a common purpose can be achieved.
The lesson was carried into an exciting eight-station Amazing Race, where the eight groups composed of DLSP teaching and non-teaching personnel competed in challenges involving a giant-ball volleyball game, flaglet retrieval, a mini-zipline, military-style obstacles, and other activities requiring speed, coordination, strategy, trust, and teamwork.
After a spirited competition, Group 2 emerged as champion, followed by Group 8 in second place and Group 1 in third place. More than the competition itself, the activity provided the DLSP community an opportunity to strengthen friendships, discover one anotherโs strengths, and experience the value of working as one.
The afternoon shifted from team building to institutional engagement as the DLSP Faculty General Assembly convened. While the Assembly was unable to proceed with its formal agenda due to technical considerations in the determination of quorum, Mrs. Jennifer D. Regoris, LPT, MAEd, President of the DLSP Faculty Association and Faculty Trustee, reported on the accomplishments and initiatives already undertaken by the Association.
This was followed by an administrative dialogue led by Dr. Sigfredo C. Adajar, LPT, College Administrator and President, together with Mr. Layzon G. Briones, MPA, Vice President for Administration and Finance; Mr. Elibert O. Singson, Director of Administrative Services; Mr. Eleneo C. Ulan, Head of the Supply Office; and Ms. Mary Grace Santiago. Discussions centered on concerns affecting DLSP personnel, including matters related to salaries, security, and other administrative issuesโproviding an avenue for personnel concerns to be heard and addressed within the institutional setting.
The afternoon also became a celebration of service and gratitude. Dr. Randall B. Pasco, Director for Institutional Development and former Vice President for Academic Affairs, recognized the individuals who contributed to the successful conduct of the 25th Commencement Exercises and Recognition Rites, acknowledging the collective effort behind one of DLSPโs most significant academic milestones.
Recognition was likewise extended to the people behind the successful conduct of INSET 2026, with the school administrators led by Dr. Sigfredo C. Adajar, Asst. Prof. Lorena E. Bautista, LPT, MAEng, Executive Vice President, and the Vice Presidents participating in the awarding and recognition of the individuals who worked behind the scenes to make the two-day activity possible.
The INSET was formally brought to a close by Dean Jeroze Jose A. Reyes, JD, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and Chair of the Technical Working Group, who underscored the collective effort that made the activity possible.
The successful conclusion of INSET 2026 was made possible through the leadership of the Executive Committee, composed of Hon. Carmela A. Acebedo, Acting City Mayor of San Pablo and Acting Chairperson of the DLSP Board of Trustees; Dr. Sigfredo C. Adajar, LPT; Asst. Prof. Lorena E. Bautista, LPT, MAEng; Dr. Kurt Cyrus John B. Cabral, LPT, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Mr. Layzon G. Briones, MPA, Vice President for Administration and Finance; Dr. Marc Lester F. Quintana, Vice President for Research and Extension; and Mr. Sherwin D. Quizon, MSIT, Vice President for Student Affairs and Services.
The Technical Working Group, chaired by Dean Jeroze Jose A. Reyes, JD, with Dean Vivian E. Asacta, CPA, MBM as Co-Chair, together with members Mr. Mark Francis P. Donato, Mr. Elibert O. Singson, Mrs. Czarina Mengote-Banayo, LPT, MAEd, and Mr. Eleneo C. Ulan, provided the core coordination and technical leadership for the activity.
The various working committees likewise played essential rolesโfrom Program, Invitations and Certificates led by Dean Rosiell U. Consignado, MSIT; Registration led by Dean Vivian E. Asacta; Food and Accommodation led by Dean John Dominic A. Florendo and Dean Cesar R. Hernandez, Jr., RN, MAN; Physical Arrangement led by Mrs. Maria Kristine T. Avanzado, MBM; Evaluation and Fun Activities led by Dean Jay-ann Consignado-Octoman, Dean Evan Jesusco, and Dean Jeroze Jose A. Reyes; Documentation led by Alvaro T. Dioquino, Jr., RN, LPT, MAN and Mr. Wilkester C. Pujanes, MBM; Resources, Transportation and Retrieval led by Mr. Elibert O. Singson; and the Technical Committee led by Mr. Danver S. Reyes, Director of the Education Management Information System Office, and Mr. Dennis S. Gambuta, Data Privacy Officer.
From the institutional roadmap and plenary discussions of Day 1 to the teamwork, dialogue, and recognition of Day 2, DLSP INSET 2026 became more than a professional development activity. It became a reminder that the pursuit of quality education begins with an institution whose people are willing to learn together, work together, listen to one another, recognize each otherโs contributions, and move forward with a shared purpose.
Day 1 set the direction. Day 2 strengthened the connection. Together, the DLSP community moves forwardโone team, one purpose, one future-ready institution.
