ASST. PROF. TAHILUDDIN: FIRST FILIPINO TO EARN PhD AT KASTAMONU UNIVERSITY, TÜRKİYE 🇵🇭

The College of Fisheries family proudly congratulates Asst. Prof. Albaris B. Tahiluddin for successfully completing his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Aquaculture (Diseases and Health Management) at Kastamonu University, Türkiye. He is also the first Filipino to finish a PhD degree in said university and obtained a perfect Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.0 (equivalent to Summa Cum Laude!).

A Certificate of Appreciation was presented to him by the Kastamonu University for his contribution to the scientific community. In total, Asst. Prof. Tahiluddin has published 62 scientific papers, 38 of which were published in Scopus-indexed.

Continue to soar high and be an inspiration to future generations, Sir Al, may your research and expertise contribute significantly to the people and community in Tawi-Tawi and the world of fisheries.

Alhamdulillah and Congratulations!

Two SCOPUS-indexed research publications authored by Asst. Prof. Jurmin H. Sarri
co-authored with fellow COF faculty — Asst. Prof. Meri Lyn Amlani, Assoc. Prof. Kingpu O. Ajik, Assoc. Prof. Melodina D. Hairol, Asst. Prof. Wahaymin Jamil, and Mr. Min Jumsali — have been successfully published in Aquaculture, Aquarium, Conservation & Legislation – International Journal of the Bioflux Society.

One of these papers is primarily authored by our graduate student of COF (MS-Aquaculture) and DOST Scholar, Mr. Al-Nasrif H. Kissae, alongside undergraduate student co-authors: Ms. J-Nadine Jalilul, Ms. Marcelita A. Jeva, Ms. Merilyn I. Lauhari, Ms. Arwina N. Sarih, and Mr. Alman S. Saddae.

This accomplishment also highlights the strong research partnership with MSU-Sulu COF, through the contributions of collaborators Enraida Sabri ImbUk, Aljemer T. Jalaide, and Lioner O. Araham.

This achievement reflects the vibrant research culture of MSU-TCTO College of Fisheries, emphasizing faculty-student mentorship and institutional partnerships that promote sustainable fisheries and coastal development.

PUBLICATION ALERT!

Congratulations to the College of Fisheries faculty members, Ms. Maria Liza Toring -Farquerabao, Asst. Prof. Albaris B. Tahiluddin, and Ms. Angelica B. Bermil for publishing a paper entitled "Advances in Ecological Modeling: Tools, Approaches, and Future Perspectives" in a Scopus-indexed journal.

Their paper was published in Journal of Tropical Resources and Sustainable Science, a scopus-indexed journal published by Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) Press and managed by Faculty of Agro Based Industry, of which experts from various academic backgrounds contribute ideas, time and expertise towards successful and quality publications.

COF Faculty and Students at 13th IPC in Panglao, Bohol

Delegates from College of Fisheries - MSU Tawi-Tawi, composed of Asst. Prof. Jurmin Sarri, Asst. Prof. Wahaymin Jamil, MS Aquaculture students, Ms. Khadiza Imlan, Ms. Fatima Nhidzlah Ensano, and Mr. Al-Nasrif H. Kissae, and BS in Fisheries students, Ms. Jeva Marcelita Ambayec and Ms. J-Nadine Jalilul presented their papers at the 13th International Phycological Congress held in Panglao, Bohol, Philippines on June 8-13, 2025.

The Congress is held every four years, bringing together experts, researchers, and enthusiasts worldwide dedicated to advancing algal science.

The team is grateful for the support and encouragement from the administration, especially our mother dolphin Chancellor Mary Joyce Z. Guinto-Sali.
