Fourth-year students of the College of Computing Studies (CCS) displayed their capstone projects, moving from theoretical ideas to practical applications, at the CCS Exhibit 2026, themed โFrom Concepts to Real-World Solutions,โ held on September 1 at the Laguna University Multi-Purpose Gym.
The exhibit featured systems developed by the fourth-year students as part of their capstone experience. The projects demonstrated their application of programming, system design, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and other computing disciplines to address real-world problems.
Sir James Aaron Guevarra served as the master of ceremonies, followed by the opening remarks of CCS Dean Ms. Chrisna L. Fucio, who recognized the studentsโ dedication and efforts in completing their projects.
โSo this is your time, โno? Sa mga fourth year, to shine. Ipakita ninyo sa kanila yung puyat, pagod, at oras na inilaan ninyo para mabuo โyan. Ipakita ninyo sa kanila na deserve ninyo โyan. Ayan ang key ninyo para makagraduate.โ Ms. Fucio said.
The opening program continued with motivational messages from the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) Dr. Marlon L. Atanacio and University President Dr. Charlemagne G. Laviรฑa.
Mr. Atanacio emphasized that the exhibit served as an opportunity to recognize the studentsโ hard work and allow lower-year students to see the projects developed by their seniors.
โAng goal po nito para makita, ma-highlight, ma-showcase ang mga pinaghirapan ninyo during your sleepless nights, and those lower years na nasa labas, alam kong very excited sila na makita yung gawa ninyo,โ Mr. Atanacio said.
He also congratulated the fourth-year students as they approach graduation, saying, โI would like to congratulate all fourth year in advance. Dapat kine-claim na natin โyan dahil road to graduation na.โ
Meanwhile, Dr. Laviรฑa highlighted the progression represented by the exhibitโs theme, encouraging students to view their projects beyond academic requirements.
โI challenge our students not to think of your projects merely as academic requirements. Think of them as solutions. Ask yourselves: What problem am I trying to solve? Who will benefit from my solution? And most importantly, how can I make it better?โ Dr. Laviรฑa said.
He further emphasized the importance of responsible innovation amid the rapid development of technology and artificial intelligence.
โTechnical knowledge alone is not enough. We need innovation with purpose, technology with responsibility, and intelligence guided by integrity,โ he added.
Following the opening program, the Exhibit Tour allowed visitors and students from different year levels to explore the projects. The fourth-year students demonstrated their systems and explained their objectives, features, and intended applications.
The exhibit also incorporated an evaluation process using a system developed by Sir Jayson Opeรฑa and Sir Elmar Salvador. Through the system, lower-year students and other visitors were able to provide comments, questions, and suggestions regarding the projects.
The feedback gave the fourth-year students an opportunity to identify areas for improvement before the systemsโ deployment and final defense.
The Information Technology Society of Laguna University (ITS_LU) also assisted CCS and the fourth-year students in organizing and preparing the exhibit.
Despite challenges brought by class suspensions and weather conditions, the students successfully completed and presented their projects.
In his concluding remarks, CCS Research Coordinator Kurt Robin A. San Jose commended the students for their perseverance throughout the capstone process.
โFirst of all, congratulations sa inyong lahat for successfully presenting your capstone projects. I witnessed your journey during your Capstone Project One pa lang, your struggles, and hanggang ngayon patuloy kayong nag-e-effort para sa inyong studies,โ San Jose said.
He encouraged the students to treat the exhibit as an opportunity to improve their work rather than simply another academic requirement.
โSana โdi lang tingnan itong exhibit natin as another requirement. Think of it as a chance to hear yung mga feedback na nakuha natin from the lower year, yung mga suggestions, questions from other visitors. Magagamit ninyo โyan para ma-improve pa yung system ninyo before deployment and final defense.โ
San Jose concluded by encouraging the students to continue refining their projects and apply what they learned from the exhibit.
โCongratulations everyone. Continue improving your projects, learn from the feedback, and hopefully yung concept na mayroon kayo, yung mga pinakita ninyo today, ay maging real-world solutions.โ
Through the CCS Exhibit 2026, the fourth-year students demonstrated how their capstone projects can extend beyond academic requirements by applying classroom knowledge to practical problems and incorporating feedback toward the development of more effective solutions.
