The MAGNA concept is inspired by a desire and aim to help improve basic education in the Philippines with a particular focus on the public school system. The problems of basic education in the country are numerous and complex and this effort is one among many possible efforts to help improve basic education. The primary inspiration is to get the community to come together and form a partnership am

ong the various community stakeholders to help improve basic education in their community. With the call of the Department of Education (DepED) to study a possible shift in the public basic education curriculum from 10 years to K to 12, the MAGNA program for school renewal and reform integrates this into the renewal and reform movement. All schools that will undergo the MAGNA program for school renewal and reform will be part of the MAGNA Community.
