𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒 | Sofia Julien Almazan and Thyrone Abulencia of the University of La Salette, Inc. (ULS) represented the Timor-Leste Team in the Search for ASEAN Muse and Prince during the 2026 ASEAN Month Celebration in Tuguegarao City, under the guidance of Juli Marie Galicia, MAEd.

Almazan was named Ms. ASEAN Muse Region II, while Abulencia was declared Runner-Up in the Mr. ASEAN Prince Region II.

𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒 | Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) students from the University of La Salette, Inc. (ULS), Prince Angelo M. Agustin, Cesar M. Cordero, Jr. , Izhelle Ann D. Corpuz, and Nikka R. Valencia, showcased the rich culinary heritage of Timor-Leste during the "Flavor of ASEAN" Cultural Cuisine Exhibit as part of the 2026 ASEAN Month Celebration in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

The team presented traditional Timorese dishes, including Bafa de Timor, a slow-cooked pork dish seasoned with local spices; Pudim de Coco, a caramel-topped coconut custard dessert; and Timorese Satay, grilled chicken skewers served with savory peanut sauce.

The Salettinian students were mentored by Ivy C. Anquillano-Bartido, MBA, MSHM, LPT.

𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 | The University of La Salette, Inc. (ULS) participated in the 2026 ASEAN Month Celebration in Region II, held on August 25 in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, with the theme “Navigating Our Future, Together.”

Representing ULS during the celebration were Madeilyn B. Estacio, Ph.D., Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Rouel Ramirez, DPA, Director of External Affairs and International Relations; and selected faculty members and students.

ULS joined the Timor-Leste Team together with Cagayan Valley Computer and Information Technology College, La Salette of Roxas College, Northern Cagayan Colleges, Northeastern College, Isabela College of Arts and Technology, Metropolitan College of Science and Technology, and Northeast Luzon Adventist College. The institutions collaborated in representing Timor-Leste through the Cultural Cuisine Exhibition, booth exhibition, and the Search for ASEAN Muse and Prince.

The event also included the ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the implementation of the Building Resilience and Innovation in Developing Global Engagement (BRIDGE) Initiative and the “Adopt an Institution” Framework for Internationalization. Under the agreement, ULS was partnered with the University of Cagayan Valley to support internationalization and institutional collaboration initiatives.

During lunch, participating higher education institutions showcased their assigned ASEAN member states through the ASEAN Cultural Cuisine Exhibition, featuring traditional food and beverages. As part of the Timor-Leste Team, Salettinian students namely Prince Angelo M. Agustin, Cesar Jr. M. Cordero, Izhelle Ann D. Corpuz, and Nikka R. Valencia, under the mentorship of Ivy Anquillano Bartido, MBA, MSHM, LPT, participated in the “Flavor of ASEAN” Cultural Cuisine Exhibit, presenting Timorese cuisine and cultural traditions.

In the afternoon, students competed in the Search for ASEAN Muse and Prince and performed folk dances representing various ASEAN countries. As part of the Timor-Leste Team, Sofia Julien Almazan of ULS was named Ms. ASEAN Region II, while Thyrone Abulencia was named First Runner-Up in the Mr. ASEAN Region II competition. Both candidates were coached by Juli Marie Galicia, MAEd.

𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 | Student leaders from the University of La Salette, Inc. (ULS) joined representatives from higher education institutions across Cagayan Valley during the Regional Youth Leadership Forum held on August 19, 2026, in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

Centered on the theme, “Advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Through Internationalization, Innovation, and Community Action,” the forum provided a venue for participants to engage in discussions on pressing social and community concerns.

The ULS delegation, composed of Student Executive Council President Thyrone C. Abulencia, SEC Treasurer John Patrick A. Tamani, SEC Auditor Joseph Luis B. Jacela, College of Business Education Governor Jayson Pascua, College of Engineering and Architecture Governor Travis Bryant E. Talde, College of Teacher Education Governor Tristan Rae D. Torres, Junior Finance Executives Chairperson Jhon Lord A. Cutaran, and Salettinian Young Leaders Association President Precious Mae A. Mones, attended the forum under the supervision of Limuel Arjay Esteban, MBA, CSAS, Dean of the Office of Student Services and Affairs.

𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 | The Graduate School of the University of La Salette, Inc. (ULS) conducted its Research Colloquium at the Center for Professional Development on August 8, 2026, participated by graduate school faculty members and students, with the theme “Knowledge in Action: Graduate Research for Human Development and Social Transformation, Advancing the SDGs with Truth, Service, and Excellence.”

Participants presented their research studies in the fields of health, education, technology, entrepreneurship, environmental management, and community development.

Benedict B. Marquez, Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH), received the Best Presenter Award for his study, “Barriers, Readiness, and Challenges of Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) in Utilizing Electronic Health Records Systems (EHRS).” Meanwhile, Mynchilyn A. Pale, Master of Science in Engineering Management (MSEM), earned the Best Research Paper Award for her study, “Flood Hazard and Risk Assessment of Lower Magat River Basin Using Geospatial Technologies: Basis for Developing Flood Hazard Map.”

Other awardees were Jaycell A. Tucay (MAEd-PE), First Runner-Up for Best Presenter; Reymond C. Dalupang (MIT), Second Runner-Up for Best Presenter and First Runner-Up for Best Research Paper; and Jose S. Sabaulan (DBA), Second Runner-Up for Best Research Paper.

In her opening remarks, Dr. Madeilyn B. Estacio, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Graduate School, highlighted the importance of graduate research in addressing community concerns and supporting sustainable development.

A panel of evaluators composed of Dr. Darin Jan C. Tindowen, Dr. Client William M. Malinao, and Dr. Denson M. Liday reviewed the presentations and provided comments and recommendations to the presenters.
