𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 | CCJE Extension Program Conducts Community Needs Assessment in Brgy. Nabbuan

The College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) Extension Program of the University of La Salette, Inc. (ULS) conducted a community needs assessment in Barangay Nabbuan on October 8, 2026, to gather data for the development of future extension and community-based initiatives.

Jenor Jeff D. Follante, RCrim, CCJE Extension Coordinator, together with student volunteers facilitated the assessment. In coordination with barangay officials, the team conducted surveys and consultations with residents to identify community concerns and priority areas for intervention.

Among the concerns identified were livelihood opportunities, crime prevention initiatives, particularly theft-related cases, and safety concerns arising from insufficient street lighting during nighttime.

Data gathered from the assessment will be used in planning future community extension activities and programs of the CCJE in partnership with Barangay Nabbuan.

𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 | ULS, BJMP Santiago City Hold Mental Health Awareness Program for PDLs

The University of La Salette, Inc. (ULS), through the initiative of the Human Development Center (HDC) and in collaboration with the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Extension Unit-PsySoc, conducted a Mental Health Awareness Community Extension Program at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Santiago City on October 10, 2026.

Conducted in observance of World Mental Health Day and National Mental Health Week, the program focused on the theme, “Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change Services.”

The activity aimed to promote mental health awareness, strengthen emotional resilience, and provide practical insights on stress management and self-care among Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs). Through discussions and interactive activities, participants learned about the importance of mental well-being and healthy coping strategies.

The program formed part of the continuing partnership between ULS and BJMP Santiago City in implementing community-based initiatives and promoting mental health education.

𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 | CHEDRO II Conducts Monitoring and Evaluation of ULS Graduate Teacher Education Programs

The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office II (CHEDRO II) conducted a Monitoring and Evaluation of the Graduate Teacher Education Programs of the University of La Salette, Inc. (ULS) on October 8–9, 2026, at the Center for Professional Development (CPD) Building.

From the CHEDRO II were Dr. Lino C. Reynoso, Technical Panel Member for Graduate Teacher Education; Dr. Darin Jan C. Tindowen; and Dr. Pilar B. Acorda, Education Supervisor II.

Present during the visit were Rev. Fr. Franklin G. P***o, MS, PhD, University President; Madeilyn B. Estacio, Ph.D., Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Graduate School; concerned office heads; and program coordinators.

𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒 | The Office of the Vice President for Administration and the Human Resource Management Office of the University of La Salette, Inc. conducted IGNITE 2.0: Transformative Education on October 9, 2026, at the 2nd Floor of the Center for Professional Development (CPD) Building.

Rev. Fr. Pedro Q. Dolar, MS, MA, Vice President for Administration, served as the lecturer. Deans, program coordinators, and full-time faculty members attended the session.

𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 | DepEd Santiago City Recognizes Fr. P***o as Outstanding Stakeholder

Reverend Father Franklin G. P***o, MS, Ph.D., President of the University of La Salette, Inc. (ULS), received a Plaque of Recognition as one of the Outstanding Stakeholders of the Schools Division Office of Santiago City during the Division 2026 Local Stakeholders’ Convergence on October 8 at the Santiago Sports Arena.

Fr. P***o received the recognition for the University’s contributions and support to Nabbuan Integrated School.

Joining Fr. P***o during the awarding were Madeilyn B. Estacio, Ph.D., Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Bernard Joseph L. Ariola, LPT, CHRA, Director of the La Salette Pananagutan Center (LSPC).

The convergence recognized education partners and stakeholders for their contributions to the delivery of quality education and community services in Santiago City.

Organized by first-year Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) students, the university-wide seminar is part of the University's initiatives to strengthen responsible AI use and cyberthreat preparedness through discussions on artificial intelligence, digital responsibility, and cybersecurity.

𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 | 𝐔𝐋𝐒 𝐃𝐞𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐑𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝟓𝐭𝐡 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐥, 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐒𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐞𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭

Lance Elijah Vergara, Matt David Dela Cruz, and Renz Andrey Ignacio of the Salettinian Debate Society of the University of La Salette, Inc. (ULS) ranked 5th overall and reached the semifinals of the 18th Luzon Intervarsity, a national British Parliamentary debate tournament held on October 3–4 at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB).

At least 50 debate teams from institutions across the country competed in four elimination rounds, with the top eight teams in the novice category advancing to the semifinals.

This is the first time ULS has qualified for the semifinals of the tournament. In the previous edition of the competition, the Salettinian debaters fell short of a semifinal berth.

“This major breakthrough is not just an achievement for us as debaters, but also a reflection of the continued support we have received from ULS,” Vergara said. “It shows that we are able to compete against big universities and stand in the spotlight as a team representing ULS.”

Lance Elijah Vergara, Matt David Dela Cruz, and Renz Andrey Ignacio of the Salettinian Debate Society of the University of La Salette, Inc. (ULS) arrived at the University of the Philippines- Los Baños (UPLB) for the 18th Luzon Intervarsity, a national British Parliamentary debate tournament scheduled on October 3–4.
