WMSU SIAY CAMPUS WELCOMES A NEW ACADEMIC JOURNEY!

August 3, 2026 marked a meaningful and exciting beginning as the Western Mindanao State University – Siay External Campus officially welcomed students for the First Semester of School Year 2026–2027.

The opening of classes began with a Thanksgiving Mass, offered in gratitude for the blessings and guidance for the new academic year. The Holy Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Joseph Glenn Secondes.

Following the Mass, the WMSU Siay community gathered for the Flag Raising Ceremony, symbolizing our shared commitment to uphold the values, ideals, and mission of the University.

A short program immediately followed to officially welcome students to the new semester. During the event, the month-long Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa 2026 celebration was also formally opened, highlighting our commitment to culture and language.

The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm, gratitude, and renewed hope as students, faculty, and staff embarked on another academic journey together.

The WMSU Siay community extends its deepest appreciation to our University officials and External Studies administration for their continued support and commitment:

Campus News Update || CHED-UniFAST Region IX Conducts TES–TDP Reorientation and Monitoring on the Landbank ATM Account Enrollment at WMSU Siay Campus

Siay, Zamboanga Sibugay – July 29, 2026, 10:00 AM. The Commission on Higher Education – Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education (CHED-UniFAST) Region IX successfully conducted a face-to-face re-orientation on Landbank ATM Account Enrollment for Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) and Tulong Dunong Program (TDP) student-grantees at the WMSU Siay Campus Covered Court.

The activity aimed to strengthen the implementation of student financial assistance programs by ensuring proper ATM enrollment procedures and addressing challenges encountered by grantees.
During the event, monitoring was conducted to assess the number of successful and unsuccessful Landbank ATM enrollments. Issues and concerns raised by student-grantees were systematically collected and consolidated to provide responsive solutions and improve future processes.

The re-orientation was attended by continuing TES and TDP student-grantees from Western Mindanao State University – Siay Campus and Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University – Siay EDPU.

This initiative reflects CHED-UniFAST’s commitment to enhancing transparency, efficiency, and student support in the distribution of educational subsidies, ensuring that financial assistance reaches qualified beneficiaries in a timely and effective manner.

The activity was spearheaded and facilitated by CHED-UniFAST Region IX personnel, including:
