University of Antique Student Government proudly celebrates our six (6) UASG officers who took on the challenge of the 9th Philippines Transformative Approaches to Innovative Leadership (TRAIL) Leaders’ Camp. Each of them stepped into the experience carrying their own stories, and came home carrying something more—growth, transformation, and a deeper sense of purpose.

Beyond these are stories of late nights, shared laughter, challenges faced, and lessons that will shape how they lead moving forward.

TRAIL Leaders’ Camp is where student leaders are challenged to think deeper, lead better, and serve with intention. It’s a space to learn from others, share experiences, and build the kind of leadership that responds to real community needs.

As they take on this opportunity, our delegates bring with them their commitment to grow, lead, and make a difference—not just within the university, but beyond it.

March 18 stands as a defining moment in the history of Panay, marking its liberation in 1945 during World War II. This victory restored hope and freedom to the island after a long period of occupation, symbolizing the resilience and determination of the Panaynon people. Observed annually under Proclamation No. 430 signed by Corazon C. Aquino, Panay Liberation Day serves as a tribute to those who fought bravely for the island’s freedom.

Amid fear and uncertainty, Panaynon guerrillas, local communities, and Allied forces joined together in a unified struggle to reclaim their homeland. Guided by leaders such as Macario Peralta Jr., the resistance movement drew strength not only from strategy, but from the shared courage of ordinary citizens. Today, we remember not only the triumph of liberation, but also the lives and sacrifices behind it. As one community, may we continue to uphold the values they fought for—courage, unity, and an enduring love for country.

Student leaders convened at Busalian Hall on March 16, 2026, to deliberate on the proposed re-implementation of the no-plastic policy at the University of Antique. The gathering brought together representatives from various colleges, particularly UASG, FLP, Provincial Officers, and Class Mayors, emphasizing a shared commitment to environmental sustainability within the campus.

During the discussion, participants revisited the goals of the original policy, which aimed to reduce single-use plastic waste and promote eco-friendly alternatives. Concerns regarding proper implementation, student compliance, and the availability of sustainable options were raised, prompting an exchange of ideas on how to strengthen the initiative.

Leaders also emphasized the importance of awareness campaigns and collaboration between the administration and the student body to ensure the policy’s effectiveness. Suggestions included conducting information drives, installing proper waste disposal bins, and encouraging the use of reusable containers.

The meeting concluded with a unified call to action, as student leaders expressed their support for reviving the no-plastic policy. The initiative is seen not only as a step toward a cleaner campus but also as a contribution to broader environmental protection efforts.

Adding to her already extensive responsibilities as the current Vice President for Research, Extension, and Innovation, Dr. Jelyn O. Alentajan now carries another significant role as she assumes the position of Officer-in-Charge University President of the University of Antique, serving until a new University President is officially selected by the members of the Board.

Congratulations, Dr. Jelyn. With your leadership, the University of Antique will continue to soar to greater heights.

Following the conclusion of his eight-year term as University President, Dr. Pablo S. Crespo Jr. assumes a new role in the institution. The University of Antique proudly welcomes him as the newly designated Vice President for Administration and Finance, continuing his legacy of dedicated leadership and service to the university community.
