𝐋𝐌𝐔, 𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐋 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐬, 𝐏𝐡𝐲𝐭𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐬, 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐩𝐲

The Laboratory Management Unit (LMU), in collaboration with the Centralized Analytical and Testing Laboratory (CATL), conducted a three-day Training on Chemometrics, Phytochemical Analysis, and Spectroscopy on September 21–23, 2026, at the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Conference Room and CATL.

The training aimed to equip faculty members in the Science Area and laboratory staff with comprehensive theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills in UV-Vis spectrophotometry, covering the analytical process from fundamental concepts to practical applications.

Through lectures, discussions, and practical application, participants were trained in standard methods of sample preparation and the conduct of phytochemical assays (Total Phenolic Content and Antioxidant Activity) in samples, as well as in reagent preparation and formulation of standard solutions, blanks, serial dilutions, and the proper application of laboratory safety protocols.

The activity further strengthened the participants’ competencies in interpreting and analyzing reliable analytical data through chemometrics. These skills are expected to enhance their laboratory practices and support the effective integration of analytical techniques and data interpretation into classroom instruction.

As the University of Antique (UA) continues to strengthen its internationalization efforts and expand its connections with the global community, the International Affairs Unit conducted a two-day Training-Workshop on Developing International Competencies: Strengthening Institutional Readiness for Global Challenges in Philippine Higher Education on September 29–30, 2026, at Busali-an Hall.

The training-workshop aims to equip the academe’s leaders, deans, and program heads with the competencies, framework alignments, and policy insights needed to become internationally responsive and help build resilient, sustainable, and globally competitive academic ecosystems.

Prof. Ryan C. Dayuta, Director of the Linkages and International Office of the Philippine Normal University, discussed internationalization dynamics, emerging global trends, and institutional readiness.

His sessions guided participants in developing impactful internationalization strategies aligned with global benchmarking frameworks and the thrusts of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

Today’s sessions will continue with various workshops, including a Writeshop on Evidence-Based Narrative Documentation and Data Mapping for Global Impact Rankings, facilitated by Jerome L. Doque, MA, Chief of the Sustainability Unit of Tarlac Agricultural University.

House Speaker Faustino G. Dy III led the ceremonial turnover of checks to 108 state universities and colleges (SUCs) during the Affirmation of Compliance and Commitment to Settle the Free Higher Education Deficiency held at Andaya Hall on September 24, 2026.

Representing the University of Antique (UA) during the ceremony was University President Dr. Godelyn G. Hisole, who joined officials and representatives from SUCs across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The turnover forms part of the government’s efforts to settle outstanding deficiencies and strengthen the implementation of free higher education in SUCs. House Committee on Appropriations Chairperson Mikaela Angela B. Suansing said the House of Representatives will continue working with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Department of Budget and Management (DBM), and SUCs to address the underlying causes of funding deficiencies and ensure the continued delivery of free higher education.

Also present during the ceremony were House Majority Leader Ferdinand Alexander A. Marcos, CHED Chairperson Shirley C. Agrupis, and Senior Deputy Speaker Ferdinand Hernandez, along with other government officials and representatives of participating SUCs.

For the University of Antique, the financial support represents an important contribution to sustaining its commitment to accessible and quality higher education. The University expressed its gratitude for the government’s support, which will help strengthen its capacity to provide educational opportunities and essential services to its students and fulfill its mandate as a public higher education institution.

The Survivors Toolkit 2026: Start Strong, Stay Strong continues today, September 29, at Tiripunan Hall, with first-year and transferee students from the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Teacher Education, College of Management and Governance, College of Criminal Justice Education, and College of Maritime Studies.

The symposium aims to equip new members of the Kasubay community with essential knowledge and insights to help them navigate and thrive in college life.

Various agencies, establishments, and companies in the province brought opportunities and services to jobseekers through UbrA 2026 Job Fair, at Paghi-UsA Hall today, September 29, 2026.

During the opening program, Dr. Catherine C. Viesca, Vice President for Academic Affairs, emphasized that the annual activity reflects one of the academe’s most important responsibilities, preparing students not only to earn their degrees but also to successfully transition from education to employment and become meaningful contributors to society.

Prof. Randy A. Puyong, Director of the Career and Job Placement Unit (CJPU), likewise expressed his appreciation to the participating employers, government agencies, and service providers for investing their time and resources to bring employment opportunities and services closer to the UA community.

“This collaboration reflects the positive change we can achieve when institutions and communities work together to build a brighter future,” he stated.

Also present during the activity were Dr. Eva L. Capague, OIC Director for Academic Affairs, Ms. Virginia M. Goboy, OIC of the DOLE Antique Field Office, and representatives from the Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs) of various municipalities in the province.

This year’s Job Fair is spearheaded by the CJPU, in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Antique PESO/JPO Association Inc.

The Statistical Knowledge Management Unit, in partnership with the Math Faculty and the Association of Integrated Mathematicians, successfully conducted the UA Statistics Quiz 2026 on September 24 at the e-Hub in celebration of the 37th National Statistics Month.

Representing the Laboratory High School (LHS), Andrea Marie H. Encarnacion emerged as champion, while John Elly M. Sayon of the College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) and Lyra Germaine S. Jamandron of the College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA) secured second and third places, respectively.

Sayon and Jamandron, together with John Mark F. Tuma-ob of CEA, will represent the University of Antique in the 30th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) College Level – Provincial Elimination on September 29 at Eagle’s Hotel in San Jose, Antique.
