8 SPSF ASPIRANTS ACCOMPANY ST. PAUL ON THE ROAD TO DAMASCUS (RETREAT)
Eight aspirants of the Saint Paul Seminary Foundation took part in a Pre-Postulancy Retreat on April 5–8, 2026 at the Maryridge Spirituality Center in Tagaytay City, reflecting on the theme “Accompanying Saint Paul on the Road to Damascus.” The retreat was guided by Ma’am Daisy Anilag Santos, IMSA.
Inspired by the conversion of Saint Paul, the retreat provided the aspirants with a sacred space for silence, prayer, meditation, and personal accompaniment. Through confession and individual consultations, they were led to a deeper encounter with God as they prepare for the next stage of their formation in Postulancy in Pampanga.
The retreat culminated in the celebration of the Holy Mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Norman Melchor Peña, SSP, Rector and Dean, together with Rev. Fr. Leopoldo Botavara III, SSP, Local Superior, and Rev. Fr. Ronel Anthony Soriano, SSP, Local Bursar.

𝙇𝙊𝙊𝙆: On Easter Sunday, we gathered in joyful celebration of the Resurrection of the Lord—the triumph of life over death and the fulfillment of God’s promise of salvation.
“Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen.”
At 7:00 AM, the faithful came together in thanksgiving and praise as we marked the glorious victory of Christ over the grave. The celebration was presided over by 𝙍𝙚𝙫. 𝙁𝙧. 𝙇𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙤 𝙋𝙚𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝘽𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙤𝙧𝙤, SSP, who led us in proclaiming the Good News of the Risen Christ.
After the Mass, the celebration continued with our annual Easter egg hunting—bringing smiles, laughter, and a sense of shared joy, especially among the children. It was a beautiful reminder that the joy of the Resurrection is meant to be lived and shared in our community.
From the silence of the tomb to the joy of the Resurrection, we are reminded that hope is never lost, and love conquers all. May the Risen Lord renew our hearts, strengthen our faith, and inspire us to live as witnesses of His light.
Alleluia, alleluia! ✨

Saint Paul Seminary hosted its Brightest Night celebration on April 4, a cherished tradition marking the joyous Resurrection of Christ.
The celebration began at 8 PM, presided over by 𝙍𝙚𝙫. 𝙁𝙧. 𝙍𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙡 𝙎𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙤, 𝙎𝙎𝙋, as the faithful gathered in hopeful anticipation.
The night was illuminated with the blessing of the fire, symbolizing Christ as the Light of the world. As the Paschal Candle was lit, the joyful proclamation of the Exultet rang out—an ancient hymn of praise that called all to rejoice in the victory of light over darkness and life over death.
As its melody filled the night, the light of Christ was shared from one candle to another, dispelling the darkness and uniting the faithful in one radiant glow of hope and faith.
In this sacred vigil, we celebrate the triumph of the Risen Lord, renewing our hearts with joy, faith, and the promise of new life.
Alleluia! Christ is risen—truly, He is risen!

Following the solemn Veneration of the Cross, the faithful journeyed once more with Christ through the Way of the Cross, prayerfully meditating on His path to Calvary. Led by Rev. Fr. Ronel Soriano, SSP, each station invited us to walk beside Jesus in His suffering—His falls, His encounters, and His unwavering love poured out for humanity.
In quiet reflection, we carried not only the memory of His Passion but also our own crosses—offering them in union with His sacrifice. Each step became a moment of grace, reminding us that even in pain and hardship, God is present, drawing us closer to Him.
As we traced the footsteps of Christ, may we learn to embrace our own journeys with faith and courage, trusting that beyond the Cross lies the promise of new life.
𝙇𝙊𝙊𝙆: On Good Friday, we gathered in solemn reverence for the Veneration of the Cross, commemorating the Passion of the Lord and the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ for our salvation.
“Behold, behold the wood of the Cross, on which is hung our salvation. Come, let us adore.”
As the Cross was unveiled, the faithful came forward in humility—kissing or touching it as a sign of deep devotion and gratitude. More than a sacred ritual, this act becomes a personal encounter with the mystery of Christ’s suffering, a powerful reminder of God’s boundless love, mercy, and redemption.
At 3 PM, Saint Paul Seminary and friends continued the second day of the Paschal Triduum, presided by Rev. Fr. Leopoldo Botavara, III, SSP.
In silence and prayer, we reflected on the Passion of Our Lord—His suffering, death, and the hope born from His sacrifice. May the Cross we venerate today lead us to a deeper faith, renewed hope, and a greater love that mirrors Christ’s own self-giving love.

Saint Paul Seminary (SPS) is one of the activities of Saint Paul Seminary Foundation, Inc. (SPSFI). As a Higher Education Institution, it takes its philosophy from the apostolic mission of the Society of St Paul, a religious institute of priests and brothers who serve the Church through the means of social communications. The SSP was originally founded in Italy in 1914 with the charism of “bringing the total Christ to the total person”. It does this principally through the media of communications and where members have been educated and formed integrally as regards their use, understanding, and instruction.
Originally, SPS started in Pasay City in the 1950s as a formative training school for its student aspirants. Academic activities were then affiliated with the Rizal City College in the same city. In 1960, SPS moved to Makati where and when it received its own Government Recognition to offer the General and Classical Secondary courses (High School) in 1965. The High School Department was eventually phased out in 1989. In 1968, SPS was given Government Recognition to offer a four-year Liberal Arts course, with major in Philosophy and minor in either History, or English, or Graphic Arts. 1988 saw the revision of the four-year Liberal Arts course of the Seminary which offered Bachelor of Arts, with major in Philosophy and with minor in Mass Communication.
Taking cue from the “signs of the times”, the 1990’s saw SPS switching to the “high tech” formation of future Paulines that was continuously rooted in scholastic philosophy. Development of personnel and updating of equipment and facilities of the Seminary became the order of the decade. This culminated in the transfer of SPS to Silang, Cavite in June 1993. Its site having an idyllic ambiance, with an ample space of 1.6 hectares, the three-story main seminary building has an area of 4,000 square meters which houses facilities for the formation of the Pauline aspirants and other students from other Institutions welcomed also at the Seminary. SPSFI itself was duly approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on November 3, 1992. Seven months after the approval of the SPSFI, SPS started its tertiary education activities on June 30, 1993.
SPS facilities were enhanced by the revised curriculum which offered a four-year Liberal Arts course, leading to the degree of Bachelor of Arts, with majors in Philosophy and in Mass Communication. It received Government recognition on July 7, 1993, exactly 58 years after the first Paulines came to the Philippines.
To date and with the advent of the K-12 program in the Philippines, the Seminary has revised its curriculum and with the approval of CHED and alignment to CMO’s 26 and 27 series of 2017 offers the following programs:
• Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy (4 year Liberal Arts program)
• Bachelor of Arts in Communication (4 year Liberal Arts program)
• Certificate in Philosophical Studies (2 year program for College graduates and Adult Vocations)
