The 21st Chemical Engineering Week concluded its fifth day with a memorable Social Night on September 25, 2026, held at the Front View Deck, Cultural Sports Center.

With a streetwear theme, the evening brought together students and faculty in a celebration of camaraderie, creativity, and the ChE spirit. The night featured stylish looks, lively moments, and unforgettable memories as the four houses came together to close the week-long festivities.

Adding to the celebration, ✨Ms. Streetwear Jea Mikhaela Armodia and ✨Mr. Streetwear Steven Paul Pabiran stood out with their impressive streetwear looks.

The Social Night also featured the much-anticipated House Talent Show, where the four houses showcased their creativity, talent, and teamwork:

DAY 5 | MR. & MS. ChE WEEK AND SOCIAL NIGHT OPENING

September 25, 2026 — The Chemical Engineering Department of MSU-MCSE officially kicks off Day 5 of the 21st Chemical Engineering Week at the Front View Deck of the Cultural Sports Center, setting the stage for an evening of celebration, camaraderie, and excitement.

With Streetwear as the theme, students and faculty bring a vibrant and stylish energy to the celebration, the opening program for the much-anticipated Mr. & Ms. ChE Week and Social Night brings together the four houses of the department—House Levenspiel, House Mendeleev, House Bernoulli, and House Arrhenius—as they prepare to showcase their representatives and house spirit.

Gracing the opening are Chemical Engineering faculty members Prof. Engr. Redintor Bautista, Prof. Engr. Sanny Jr. Malagum, and Prof. Engr. Mamerto Benitez Jr., alongside the ChE community in anticipation of the festivities ahead.

Organized by the Chemical Engineering Students’ Society (ChESS), the excitement continues this afternoon as the highly anticipated Mr. & Ms. ChE Week takes center stage, followed by the much-awaited Social Night tonight—a celebration of fellowship, entertainment, and the ChE community.

IN PHOTOS | Chemical Engineering Department Conducts Information Drive Across Dipolog City

ZNNHS Main, ZNNHS Turno, and Saint Vincent’s College Inc., September 24, 2026 — The Chemical Engineering Department conducted an information drive across three schools, led by ChESS Adviser Prof. Engr. Sanny Jr. Malagum, to promote Mindanao State University–Main Campus Sindangan Extension (MSU-MCSE) and its Chemical Engineering program.

The team visited ZNNHS Main, engaging students from the STEM, HUMSS, and ABM strands, followed by ZNNHS Turno, where the team conducted room-to-room discussions with STEM students. Meanwhile, Saint Vincent’s College Inc. welcomed the delegation for a court-wide senior high school orientation focused on the STEM strand.

Joining Prof. Engr. Malagum were ChESS officers—External Deputy Minister Cyrahrose Narvaez, Creatives Gino Andrie Handugan and Erica Yongod, 4th and 5th Year Representatives Angelie Cais, Bernoulli House Prefect Alex Bacus, and Documentation Committee member Dulce Amolo.

The team encountered accommodating and participative students throughout the visits, with the experience made more meaningful by students who expressed interest in pursuing Chemical Engineering.

Miputak NHS and Dipolog City National High School, September 24, 2026 — The Chemical Engineering Department conducted a room-to-room information drive at Miputak National High School and Dipolog City National High School, led by former Program Coordinator Prof. Engr. Mamerto Benitez Jr., as part of the department’s initiative to promote Mindanao State University–Main Campus Sindangan Extension (MSU-MCSE) and its Chemical Engineering program.

Joining Prof. Engr. Benitez were ChESS officers—Department Governor Lucy Guminta, Vice Governor Yanny Taling, Department Secretary Mary-Mia Kilat, and Minister of Audit Manuel Junio—who helped facilitate the information drive and engage students in learning more about the program and the opportunities offered by MSU-MCSE.

Galas National High School, September 24, 2026 — The Chemical Engineering Department conducted a room-to-room information drive at Galas National High School and entertained six rooms of grade 12 strands, led by Program Coordinator Prof. Engr. Redintor Bautista, as part of the department’s initiative to promote Mindanao State University–Main Campus Sindangan Extension (MSU-MCSE) and its Chemical Engineering program.

Joining Prof. Engr. Bautista in the activity were ChESS officers—Head Minister Myko Leria, Deputy Head Minister Arnold Ejan, Minister of Information Renand Carbona, and Business Manager Ara Villa Barillo—who contributed to the successful ex*****on of the information drive.

𝐂𝐡𝐄 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤 | 21st Chemical Engineering Week Day 3 Afternoon

The 21st Chemical Engineering Week continued its third day with a meaningful virtual Career Talk on September 23, 2026, where students gained valuable perspectives on the journey from undergraduate life to becoming practicing Chemical Engineers.

The session featured Engr. Mark Rudan Casumpang Consular, Process Engineer at Petron Bataan Refinery, and Engr. Ruby Grace Y. Ecnad, RChT, QA/QC Supervisor and Pollution Control Officer at Caraga Oil Refining, Inc.

Engr. Consular shared his journey as a Chemical Engineering student and professional, from being a DOST-SEI Scholar and Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of the Philippines Visayas to working in the refining industry. His experience covers process optimization, wastewater treatment, environmental compliance, energy efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Meanwhile, Engr. Ecnad shared her experiences in the oil refining industry, where she currently works in quality assurance, quality control, laboratory analysis, and environmental compliance. She serves as a QA/QC Supervisor and Pollution Control Officer at Caraga Oil Refining, Inc., bringing her experience as a Registered Chemical Engineer and Registered Chemical Technician into her professional practice.

The speakers also engaged with the students through a question-and-answer session, addressing their questions and sharing practical insights from their respective fields. Their stories highlighted the different career paths available to Chemical Engineers and the experiences that shape their professional journey.

The Career Talk served as an opportunity for students to look beyond their undergraduate years, learn from professionals who have walked the path before them, and gain a deeper appreciation of the many possibilities that await them in the field of Chemical Engineering.

Coastal Clean-Up Drive Marks Day Three of the 21st Chemical Engineering Week

The celebration of the 21st Chemical Engineering Week continued beyond the classroom as the Department of Chemical Engineering conducted a Coastal Clean-Up Drive on September 23, 2026 from 6:00am to 8:00am, at Kan-anan sa Baybay Seashore, Bantayan.

Bringing together Chemical Engineering students and faculty members, the initiative highlighted the department’s commitment to environmental responsibility and meaningful community engagement. More than a clean-up activity, the drive served as a collective effort to contribute to the preservation of the coastal environment and promote a culture of environmental stewardship among students.

Adding to the spirit of collaboration was the department’s House System, with House Arrhenius, House Bernoulli, House Mendeleev, and House Levenspiel working together throughout the activity. The initiative strengthened camaraderie, teamwork, and unity among the houses while pursuing a shared commitment to the community and the environment.

The activity was spearheaded by the Chemical Engineering faculty members, led by Chemical Engineering Program Coordinator Prof. Engr. Redintor Bautista, ChESS Adviser Prof. Engr. Sanny Jr. Malagum, and Prof. Engr. Mamerto Jr. Benitez.

With the support and commendation of Campus Director Dr. Florencio D. Recoleto Jr., the Coastal Clean-Up Drive stands as another meaningful milestone in the 21st Chemical Engineering Week—bringing the celebration beyond the campus and into the community through service, solidarity, and environmental action.

3rd Inter-High School Quiz Bowl | 21st Chemical Engineering Week Day 2

September 22, 2026—The 21st Chemical Engineering Week continued its Day 2 celebration with the 3rd Senior High School Quiz Bowl Competition held at the Gender and Development (GAD) Building.

Seven senior high schools competed in an academic challenge that showcased their knowledge, critical thinking, and enthusiasm for science and engineering. The activity also strengthened the Department of Chemical Engineering’s connection with the senior high school community and expanded its academic outreach.
