The Central Bicol State University of Agricultureโ€“Sipocot College of Criminology successfully conducted a meaningful and informative webinar-workshop titled โ€œUnderstanding the Mind, Protecting the Victim: Insights into Human Behavior and Victimologyโ€ for second-year criminology students via Zoom today April 22, 2026.

The program brought together criminology students and field experts for a full-day learning experience centered on human behavior, victim protection, and real-world applications in criminology.

The morning session opened with registration, followed by an invocation and welcome remarks from College Dean Dr. Dionesia R. Beraรฑa. An inspiring message was also delivered by OSAS Campus Coordinator Prof. Charmayn N. Nate.

The first lecture, facilitated by resource speaker Dr. Niรฑa Salve King Baรฑas, focused on human behavior and abnormal psychology, including an in-depth discussion of psychological disorders. An open forum followed, allowing participants to ask questions and deepen their understanding of the topic.

In the afternoon session, participants were introduced to key Philippine laws on victim protection, including Republic Act No. 9262, Republic Act No. 8353, Republic Act No. 7877, and Republic Act No. 11313. The discussion was led by Police Staff Sergeant Cherelyn M Carinan of the Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD). This was followed by a session on understanding victim experiences, highlighting the importance of empathy and victim-centered approaches in handling cases.

The activity concluded with the awarding of certificates to the speakers. This was made possible by the faculty-proponents handling CRIM 3 Human Behavior & Victimology Prof. Nanies M. Barnuevo and Prof. Shayne Cleo C. Sape.
