The Cagayan State University (CSU) Solana-Lara Campus joined the University-wide Simultaneous Tree Planting and Pledge of Commitment dubbed โCSU United: One Community for Climate Actionโ on September 19, 2026, bringing together employees and students in a collective effort to promote environmental responsibility, strengthen climate action, and nurture a culture of sustainability within the University community.
Anchored on the spirit of unity and shared responsibility, the activity underscored that environmental protection is not the responsibility of a few but a collective commitment that calls for the participation of every member of the academic community. Through the tree-planting activity, the CSU Solana-Lara Campus transformed its commitment to climate action into a concrete and meaningful environmental undertaking.
The activity formally opened with the opening remarks of Ms. Chrissa P. Dayag, Campus NSTP Coordinator, who emphasized the important role of students and the academic community in advancing environmental consciousness and responsible stewardship. She highlighted that initiatives such as tree planting provide an avenue for the campus community to translate awareness into action and to recognize the responsibility of the present generation in protecting the environment for future generations.
In her message, Campus Executive Officer Dr. Ma. Haidee A. Mabborang emphasized the significance of collective action in addressing environmental concerns. She underscored that every tree planted represents not only a contribution to the environment but also a symbol of the University's commitment to sustainability, responsibility, and service to the community.
Dr. Mabborang likewise encouraged employees and students to look beyond the activity itself and embrace environmental stewardship as a continuing responsibility. She emphasized that meaningful change begins with individual actions strengthened by collective commitment, and that the CSU community can make a lasting difference when united by a common purpose.
The tree-planting activity was participated in by employees and students of the CSU Solana-Lara Campus, who worked together in planting and caring for trees as a tangible expression of their commitment to environmental protection. More than simply adding greenery to the campus surroundings, the activity served as a reminder of the importance of trees in sustaining ecosystems, improving the environment, and contributing to climate resilience.
A significant part of the activity was the recitation of the Pledge of Commitment for โCSU United: One Community for Climate Action.โ All employees and students present collectively recited the pledge, affirming their shared responsibility to support environmental protection and climate action.
This was followed by the Ceremonial Signing of the Pledge of Commitment, symbolizing the personal and collective resolve of the CSU Solana-Lara Campus community to uphold the principles embodied in the initiative. The signing served as a visible gesture that the commitment to climate action extends beyond words and ceremonies and must be reflected through sustained actions and responsible practices.
The simultaneous tree planting and pledge of commitment ultimately became more than an environmental activity. It became a demonstration of the CSU Solana-Lara Campus community's shared values of unity, responsibility, stewardship, and service.
The campus likewise recognizes Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) - Solana and Mallonga Farm as partners for environmental action whose generosity demonstrates the power of collaboration in advancing initiatives that benefit both present and future generations. Your support through the seedlings you have donated reinforce the belief that meaningful environmental action becomes stronger when government offices, institutions, organizations, and communities work together toward a common purpose.
