The third-year students of Aldersgate College, Inc. under the School of Medical Sciences conducted a Research Workshop on Statistical Analysis on March 9, 2026, at the Professional Library.
This activity marked a significant milestone as the BSN 3 students became the first batch to organize and conduct a research workshop of this kind. The workshop aimed to enhance the studentsโ knowledge and skills in analyzing research data and interpreting the results of their respective studies.
The program formally began with the opening remarks delivered by Maโam Jocylyn T. Milo, RN, RM, MAN, Program Chair of the School of Medical Sciences. This was followed by an inspirational message from Sir Kristian Cesar C. Ollier, LPT, MBA, Acting Vice President for Research, Development, and Entrepreneurship.
The workshop was facilitated by the resource speaker and school statistician, Sir Tyrone Marcial V. Lopez, LPT, MST, who delivered a comprehensive lecture entitled โ๐ฉ๐๐๐๐ ๐บ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐จ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐ต๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐น๐๐๐๐๐๐๐.โ
During Session 1: Statistical Analysis of Research Data, Sir Tyrone discussed the statistical foundations essential in research. Topics included types of variables, sampling techniques and sample size determination, descriptive statistics, and inferential statistics.
In Session 2: Major Findings and Study Conclusion, he further explained how students can properly analyze and interpret their research data to arrive at meaningful conclusions. The session also included a hands-on activity where participants practiced statistical analysis using the Jamovi software. Students were guided in performing various statistical tests, including the Independent Samples t-test, Paired Samples t-test, One-Way ANOVA, Correlation (Pearson and Spearman), and Multiple Linear Regression.
An Open Forum and Question-and-Answer session followed, providing participants the opportunity to clarify their queries regarding statistical analysis and research interpretation.
To conclude the program, Sir Romen Ian P. Sales, RN, RM, MAN, MSN, MSPH delivered the closing remarks.
Through this workshop, the students gained a deeper understanding of statistical analysis and developed practical skills in properly analyzing and interpreting research data for their nursing research studies.
