Sorsogon State University (SorSU) is currently hosting the two-day 13th Annual BIOTA Bicol Regional Convention and Scientific Sessions on August 21-22, 2026, at the SorSU CBM Building, Sorsogon City Campus, centered on the theme โ๐๐ฎ๐ข๐ญ๐ญ ๐๐ฆ๐ญ๐ญ๐ด, ๐๐ช๐จ ๐๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ข๐ค๐ต: ๐๐ฐ๐ธ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ถ๐ช๐ญ๐ฅ๐ด ๐ข ๐๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐ข๐ช๐ฏ๐ข๐ฃ๐ญ๐ฆ ๐๐ถ๐ต๐ถ๐ณ๐ฆ.โ
The convention brings together biology educators, researchers, and students from public and private institutions, along with partner agencies across the region, with the aim of advancing scientific research, enhancing teaching practices, sharing emerging developments in biology, and fostering professional and academic collaboration.
In her message, SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, underscored the conventionโs significance in providing biology educators with opportunities to gain new knowledge, establish linkages, and share best practices in the field, highlighting that its greatest impact will ultimately benefit students.

This yearโs BIOTA Bicol Convention features the Young Biologist Forum (YBF) paper and poster presentations, a keynote lecture, parallel workshop sessions, and plenary sessions, including a presentation by SorSU-Castilla faculty member Dr. Rose Anne Cleotilde I. Sambo.
Also actively participating in the event are SorSU faculty members and students from Sorsogon City and Magallanes Campuses, including CoTEd faculty Dr. Nestor L. Lasala, Jr., who serves as BIOTA Bicol Chapter Board Director for Higher Education.
The convention is likewise attended by representatives from Calabanga Community College, Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA), Catanduanes State University (CatSU), Dr. Emilio B. Espinosa, Sr. Memorial State College of Agriculture and Technology (DEBESMSCAT), Mabini Colleges, Inc., University of Nueva Caceres (UNC), Philippine Science High School โ Bicol Region Campus, Nato National High School, Saint Andrew Academy, Inc., Department of Education (DepEd)โCatanduanes, Sorsogon Provincial Hospital, and the Department of Environment and Natural ResourcesโProvincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (DENR-PENRO), Camarines Sur.
