SNSU conducted a consultation and review of its proposed Juris Doctor (JD) program, gathering legal practitioners and academic leaders to ensure the programโs rigor, relevance, and alignment with national standards.
The activity adopted a two-tier review framework to examine both the professional and academic dimensions of the proposed curriculum.
The Practitioner-Focused Review brought together members of the legal profession to provide insights grounded in actual legal practice. Discussions centered on the appropriateness of elective offerings, sequencing of courses, and strengthening of course descriptions to better prepare future law students for litigation, public service, and private practice. Invited legal experts included:
โข Prosecutor Allen Montenegro-Gasulas, Tandag City
โข Atty. Stella C. Cabahug, Private Legal Practitioner
โข Atty. Vanessa R. Compasivo-Geli, Legal Officer of SNSU
The University also convened an OBE-Focused Review, where an ad-hoc Curriculum Review Committee examined the internal coherence of the curriculum under the Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) framework. The review covered the alignment of Program Educational Objectives (PEOs), Program Outcomes (POs), Performance Indicators (P*s), and the overall curriculum map to ensure constructive alignment and measurable learning outcomes.
The Ad-Hoc Committee was chaired by Dr. Ronita E. Talingting, Vice President for Academic Affairs, with Dr. Raymon P. Espaรฑola, Director for Curriculum Development, serving as Vice Chair. Members included:
โข Dr. Merlyn L. Estoque, Dean, Graduate School
โข Dr. Louida P. Patac, Dean, College of Arts and Sciences
โข Dr. Louella S. Degamon, Academic Council Representative
โข Ms. Ailyn B. Caba, Academic Council Representative
Dr. Mauricio S. Adlaon, Vice President for Administration, also participated and contributed institutional and governance perspectives to the deliberations.
The presentation of the proposed JD curriculum was delivered by Atty. Cristine N. Tabing, JD Consultant for SNSU, who has been guiding the University in the programโs design and documentation.
The CDO acknowledges the valuable support of the technical and administrative staffโ Ms. Jessel Mae Apole, Ms. Hazel Edillor, and Mr. John Andrew Moreno โand committee secretariatโMr. Ryan Escaรฑan and Ms. Ellen Jane Sanchezโwhose coordination ensured the smooth conduct of the activity.
Through this structured and consultative review process, SNSU continues to advance its efforts toward establishing a Juris Doctor program that is academically sound, professionally responsive, and aligned with regulatory standards.
