RESCHEDULED: UP Tacloban Fun Run for Women’s Month

The UP Tacloban Fun Run for Women’s Month, originally scheduled for 29 March 2026 as part of the series of activities for the 2026 National Women’s Month, is rescheduled to 12 April 2026. All registered participants will receive an official email notification regarding this postponement.

The rescheduling of the event, now titled “UP Tacloban Fun Run for Women’s Rights,” aims to encourage greater participation and align with the UPTC’s observance of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) in April, which highlights the importance of education and awareness in preventing sexual violence and advancing women’s rights.
As inter-collegiate sports empower women to build strength, character, and community, proceeds from this fun run will support UP Tacloban athletes competing in the upcoming State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA).

Our celebration of women’s achievements and leadership extends beyond March. Together, let us continue to march forward with strength, resilience, and solidarity in advocating for a more gender-inclusive future.

Register now at https://forms.gle/cgCrbNawAZDxdCmt7

For more information about the event, contact Asst. Prof. Rima Jessamine Granali of the Gender and Development Program at [email protected].

UP Tacloban students WIN Grants at UP SDG Youth Summit 2026

Two capstone projects proposed by the UP student delegation- Project POSOble and Project EcoSoilMates- were selected among the 12 funded initiatives during the UP SDG Youth Summit 2026 held on March 12-13 at the GT-Toyota Asian Center Auditorium, UP Diliman. Each project received ₱50,000 in seed funding to support its implementation within the next year.

A total of 19 capsule proposals were submitted during the competition by 9 UP Constituent Universities (CUs) and 1 delegation from Ateneo de Manila University, highlighting a diverse range of student-led solutions aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Project POSOble, proposed by delegates from the UP Tacloban Student Council, UP Halcyon and Junior Jaycees-Tacloban Sinirangan, aims to improve access to clean and reliable water in underserved communities in Leyte and Tacloban City through the installation of community-based water pump systems.

Meanwhile, Project EcoSoilMates, proposed by the UP Tacloban Economic Society and Alpha Phi Omega-Theta Zeta Chapter, focuses on strengthening community economic and disaster resilience through the establishment of community gardens, capacity-building workshops, and initiatives that support sustainable livelihood and market access.

The UP Tacloban delegation, composed of 24 students from four student organizations and the UPTC Student Council joined around 300 student leaders across the UP System in the summit, which highlights youth-led initiatives that contribute to advancing the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

This achievement reflects the innovation, leadership, and commitment of UP Tacloban students in developing community-driven solutions that create meaningful and sustainable impact.
