𝗣𝗔𝗚𝗣𝗨𝗣𝗨𝗚𝗔𝗬, 𝗨𝗣 𝗧𝗔𝗖𝗟𝗢𝗕𝗔𝗡!🌻

The University of the Philippines Tacloban is now officially the 9th constituent university of the UP System. The UP Board of Regents (BOR) approved the elevation yesterday, May 27, following the institution's transition to an autonomous unit in 2023.

This recognition reflects the commitment to academic excellence and public service, and honors the fruits of persistent efforts and collective struggle of the UP Tacloban community.

Despite this, the fight for a genuine, student-oriented institution is far from over, and its success cannot be measured by titles alone. It must be forged through conducive learning spaces, upgraded facilities, and a guaranteed budget for the student publication and the often-overlooked disciplines like the arts and humanities. Most importantly, it must manifest as proactive protection and a genuine guarantee of student safety.

True autonomy manifests when the very people the university is sworn to serve are protected, empowered, and given the rightful service they truly deserve.

Alpha Phi Omega - Theta Zeta Chapter warmly congratulates alumnus, 𝗕𝗿𝗼. 𝗟𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗮, for his transformative service as a 𝗚𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗮𝗵𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗻𝗴ó𝗱 volunteer for School Year 2025–2026 at Tupig High School located in the Special Geographic Area of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

Bro. Limar’s journey is a reminder that true service is, above all, a commitment to the people. By stepping into the heart of a community where his presence was needed most, he showed that the essence of being an Iskolar para sa Bayan is not found in a title, but in the humility to serve and the willingness to walk alongside those at the margins.

We honor Bro. Limar not only for the academic guidance he provided but also for the lasting impact he has made on the lives of his students and the community at large. May his dedication inspire people to pursue the path of selfless service and to remain strong in our collective mission to serve the people.

Alpha Phi Omega - Theta Zeta Chapter extends highest congratulations to alumnus, 𝗕𝗿𝗼. 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲 𝗔𝗹𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘀, for the successful completion of the 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 (𝗬𝗟𝗚𝗚) 𝟲 𝗙𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺, spearheaded by the 𝙅𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙚 𝙈. 𝙍𝙤𝙗𝙧𝙚𝙙𝙤 𝙁𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣.

The YLGG program empowers young Filipino public servants to champion good governance that bridges youthful idealism with actionable policy that serves the Filipino masses. It is a transformative leadership initiative that provides them with the tools to build a more progressive and equitable nation.

In celebration of Women’s Month 2026, Alpha Phi Omega - Theta Zeta Chapter hosted "𝗛𝗘𝗥𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝗦𝗮 𝗕𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘁 𝗛𝗮𝗸𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗴, 𝗣𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗴" on March 28. The symposium united women of Brgy. 85 San Jose, Tacloban City, for an informative talk on women’s mental health and fundamental rights.

The program featured keynote speakers who honored women for their indispensable roles as pillars of society while shedding light on the complexities of their lived realities. Atty. Balvin Quillotes, a member of the LGBTQ+ community, delivered an address on legal rights under Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC), while Sis. Gemmie Lyn Navarro-Rea provided expert insights into psychological well-being and mental health resilience.

It was a day dedicated to championing the fundamental rights of women and empowering them to harness their transformative strength and become active voices for the future.

This initiative was successfully realized through the support of the barangay council led by Brgy. Captain Ryan Val Deleña.

A 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐲 𝟖𝟎, 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐬, 𝐓𝐚𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲, leaving at least 𝟐𝟓 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐝 and 𝟑𝟑 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐝.

The blaze reduced homes to ashes, forcing residents to flee with little to nothing, losing not only their shelter but also essential belongings and important documents. Affected families are now seeking temporary refuge as they begin the difficult process of recovery.

In this time of urgent need, we humbly call for 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 to support the affected families. Your help can provide immediate relief and hope for rebuilding.

Inspired by Percy Jackson & the Olympians, where heroes prove their worth through challenges, each player rose to the occasion as a true warrior. From the precision in Jolens, to the quick reflexes in Dampa, to the raw strength in Bunong Braso—every moment reflected grit and excellence.

𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 🌱

Delegates from 𝗔𝗹𝗽𝗵𝗮 𝗣𝗵𝗶 𝗢𝗺𝗲𝗴𝗮- 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘁𝗮 𝗭𝗲𝘁𝗮 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿 together with UPTC Economics Society presented a capstone project called "EcoSoilMates" which will receive a seed money of PHP50,000.00 at the UP SDG Youth Summit held last March 12-13, 2026 at UP Diliman.

"𝙀𝙘𝙤𝙎𝙤𝙞𝙡𝙈𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙨" is an expansion of APO-TZ's SoilMates project which will focus on strengthening economic resilience in disaster vulnerable communities by establishing sustainable community gardens integrated with responsive livelihood and skills training programs.

Alpha Phi Omega-Theta Zeta Chapter remains committed in providing quality services to the community and to contribute in our collective effort in achieving the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals.
