โI lead like a Babaylan by staying grounded in compassion, sincerity, and purpose in the way I treat and guide others. I donโt believe in leading through dominance, but through understanding, patience, and quiet strength. I try to be someone people can approach without fear of judgment, someone who listens before giving advice. For me, leadership is about serving with an open heart while staying true to who I am as a person. I lead by helping others feel valued, supported, and empowered in their own ways.โ

Leadership, for me, is not about the title I carry but the reason why I choose to serve. I have always believed that not all true leaders hold positions, just like not all heroes wear capes; what matters is the purpose in your heart and the passion to make a difference. It is about knowing why you lead and choosing to show up for others, even when no one is watching. Like the Babaylans, I believe women lead best when we lead with empathy, courage, and a heart that listens. If my presence helps someone believe in themselves, then I know I am leading the right way.

Among the qualities of a Babaylan, I believe I embody courage the most. I am naturally a shy person, and I know there were many opportunities I almost missed because of fear. But I chose to step beyond my own boundaries and try things I never thought I was capable of. It was through courage that I discovered I could do more, lead more, and become more than I once believed. Because I dared to expect more from myself, I was also able to grow in wisdom, empathy, and moral guidance.

As a woman leader, one of the challenges I faced was feeling inferior, especially in rooms where most leaders were men. There were moments when I felt underestimated, as if women were seen as less capable or in need of proving themselves. I overcame it by choosing to step up, believe in my abilities, and focus on growing rather than shrinking. What grounded me was my genuineness and pure passion to serve, because when you are clear about your purpose, your priority is not to prove others wrong but to do your work well. In the end, I realized that true strength is not about competing for superiority, but about serving with confidence and integrity.

I believe in empowering students to see their worth beyond grades, titles, or achievements. As someone who once struggled with self-doubt, I stand for creating safe spaces where students feel heard, supported, and capable. I advocate for leadership that nurtures growth, not pressure, and service that prioritizes people over recognition. More than anything, I want students to believe that they are enough and that they are capable of becoming more.
