We're officially underway with Project BUSAY! 📐✨

The first extension activity for Project BUSAY (Building Unity, Supporting Artisans, and Yielding Progress) by the EVSU Interior Design Department was successfully held at the DS03-SAAD Building.

This initiative is all about transforming tourism in Babatngon, Leyte! We're collaborating with the LGU to enhance their hospitality facilities near the beautiful Busay Falls through professional interior consultation on layout, furniture, and styling. We're also supporting the design of their annual Christmas Village booths to celebrate local artistry.

Stay tuned as our faculty and students bring design innovation to life, making a tangible impact on local income, community development, and cultural appreciation!

The first extension activity for Project BABATNGON of the EVSU - School of Architecture and Allied Disciplines (SAAD), Architecture Department was successfully held at the DS03-SAAD Building.

This significant event marked a successful collaboration involving the community, dedicated faculty extensionists, and our students. The activity aimed to gather initial data, skills mapping and participatory design workshop.

We are excited about the positive turnout and the opportunity to work closely with everyone as we continue Project BABATNGON's mission.

EVSU-SAAD Signs MOA with Municipality of Babatngon for Community Extension Programs

The Eastern Visayas State University – School of Architecture and Allied Disciplines, through its Architecture and Interior Design Programs, formally entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Municipality of Babatngon, Leyte.

This partnership strengthens the university’s commitment to community development through two flagship extension programs:
🟢 PLACEMAKING Program (Planning Livable Areas for Community Engagement, Maximizing Awareness, Keeping Inclusivity, and Neighborhood Growth) – which focuses on creating inclusive, engaging, and sustainable public spaces; and
🟣 FACADE Program (Forwarding Artisan Community-Allied Design Extension) – which aims to empower local artisans and enhance community aesthetics through creative design solutions.

This collaboration marks a shared vision between EVSU-SAAD and the Municipality of Babatngon to foster innovation, inclusivity, and sustainability in local community development.

The College of Architecture and Allied Discipline (CAAD) conducted a consultative meeting with the Municipality of Babatngon on August 12, 2025. Present during the meeting were Municipal Mayor Hon. Eleonor B. Lugnasin, Atty. Lito Odon, CAAD Head of Architecture Ar. Jonah Cañeda, College Extension Coordinator IDr. Joel A. Gula, and IDr. Alejo Surpia. The discussion focused on how the College can extend its services to support the municipality through technical assistance, aiming to enhance and improve the community. CAAD expressed its commitment to help Babatngon through collaborative extension programs that foster sustainable development and community empowerment.

Last February 21, 2025, we successfully conducted a Seminar and Workshop for Project BASAY: Boosting Abilities, Skills, and Adaptive Yields at the DO2 Bldg., College of Architecture and Allied Discipline.

The event featured insightful talks:
🎤 "Designing Futures: CAAD’s Role in Community Growth and Innovation" by IDr. Joppa Lydda Y. de Guzman
🎤 "Creative Outreach: Extension Services for Sustainable Development" by IDr. Joel A. Gula

💡 A Skill Mapping Activity was also led by IDr. Veronica L. Arong, followed by one-on-one interviews and an engaging Vision Board Activity aimed at shaping the community’s future
