Before the sun rises, while most of the city is still asleep, a jeepney, pedicab, tricycle, e-bike driver wipes his windshield, says a quick prayer, and turns the key.
His hands are calloused. His eyes are tired. He works through blistering heat and torrential rains, missing meals just to ensure our children make it to school, our workers reach their jobs, and our families get home safe. They rarely hear a simple "Thank you." Their sacrifices often go unnoticed in the rush of daily life.

On this National Heroes Day, August 31, 2026, we decided that their quiet dedication deserved to be seen, felt, and celebrated. 🇵🇭✨

At Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in V&G Subdivision, Tacloban City, District V-79 came together to hand over 80 hot food packs to our local drivers. It wasn’t just a meal—it was a warm embrace, a firm handshake, and a heartfelt message: "We see you. We appreciate you. You are our heroes, too." 🚐🍱❤️

Heroism isn't always forged on battlefields or written in history books. Sometimes, heroism is simply waking up every single day to serve your community with humility, grit, and love.

🩸🇵🇭 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗬 𝗖𝗔𝗠𝗘 𝗧𝗢 𝗛𝗢𝗡𝗢𝗥 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗢𝗘𝗦. 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗬 𝗟𝗘𝗙𝗧 𝗔𝗦 𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗢𝗘𝗦 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗠𝗦𝗘𝗟𝗩𝗘𝗦.

August 31, 2026.

While the nation was remembering the heroes who gave their lives for our freedom, a group of Brother Knights chose to honor them in a different way.

They gave blood.

Not for fame.
Not for recognition.
Not for a medal.

But for someone they may never meet.
Someone whose name they may never know.
Someone who may simply be praying for another chance to live.

❤️ THIS IS HEROISM.

When a Brother Knight lives the four core principles of the Knights of Columbus—Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism—these are no longer just words recited during meetings.

They become a way of life.

And on National Heroes Day, the Brother Knights of District V-79 and Assembly 3867 put those principles into action through the “Blood Donation: Be a Hero, Save Lives” activity.

🩸 H.E.R.O. — 𝙃ands 𝙀xtended to 𝙍espond to 𝙊thers in Need.

Under the leadership of 𝙎𝙆 𝙈𝙞𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙚𝙡 𝘼𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙡𝙤 𝙋. 𝙋𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙙𝙤, District V-79 District Deputy and Assembly 3867 Faithful Navigator, Brother Knights extended their hands - not to receive, but to give.

Because sometimes, a few minutes of your life can give someone else many more years to live.

But behind every hero is another hero.

The continued inspiration and support of 𝙎𝙆 𝙀𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙤 𝙈. 𝙎𝙖𝙗𝙪𝙡𝙖𝙤, Visayas State Advocate/Regional Coordinator and 𝙎𝙆 𝙍𝙪𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙤 𝘽. 𝙃𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙯, 𝙅𝙧., Silver Rose Director helped strengthen the spirit of service and encouraged Brother Knights to become heroes in the making.

To the blood donors:

You may never know whose life your blood will save.

You may never hear their story.
You may never see their smile.
You may never know their name.

But somewhere, someday, a heartbeat may continue because you chose to give.

That is why heroes are not always found on monuments.

Sometimes, they are sitting quietly in a blood donation chair.

Sometimes, they are wearing a Knights of Columbus uniform.

4𝐭𝐡 𝐅𝐢𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. 4𝐭𝐡 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫 𝐆𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞. 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧. 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐡.

Some invitations are received days ahead.
Others come one after another.
But for the Honor Guards, an invitation to serve is an invitation they gladly accept.

Fresh from rendering Honor Guard service at the 310th Parish Fiesta Celebration in Abuyog, Leyte, 12 Brother Knights once again woke up early, traveled, and wore their J & B uniforms with pride - this time (August 30, 2026) for the 4th Fiesta Celebration of Sta. Rosa de Lima Parish, Brgy. Sta. Rosa, Barugo, Leyte.

For the fourth consecutive year, with an open invitation, the Honor Guards have been there - standing in solemn formation as the parish celebrates its patroness , Sta. Rosa de Lima.

Brgy. Sta. Rosa, the largest among 37 barangays of Barugo Leyte,once again witnessed the distinctive presence of the Knights of Columbus during the Fiesta Celebration Mass.

The Stational Mass, carrying the meaningful theme:

Behind every polished shoe is a journey.

Behind every straight formation is discipline.

And behind every tired Brother Knight is a heart willing to serve.

They woke up early.
They travelled.
They stood long.
They sweated inside their J & B uniforms.

And perhaps, after two consecutive days of service, they were already tired.

But they came anyway.

Because when service is offered to God , tiredness becomes sacrifice, sacrifice becomes prayer, and service becomes thanksgiving.

They don't ask.
"How difficult will it be?"

They simply ask,
"Where do we need to serve?"

That is the spirit of the 4th Degree.
That is the spirit of the Honor Guard.
That is the spirit of brotherhood.
That is the spirit of Faith in Action.

And that is why, year after year, when the invitation comes from Sta. Rosa de Lima Parish.....

A remarkable display of Faith, Fraternity, and Service unfolded in Abuyog, Leyte as three Fourth Degree Assemblies joined forces to render a solemn Honor Guard during the 𝟑𝟏𝟎𝐭𝐡 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐅𝐢𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐬 𝐗𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐫.

Adding a special touch to this meaningful celebration was the unexpected meeting with a native of Abuyog who is now a Brother Knight in one of the Council's in Cavite.

But behind this Honor Guard was something even more meaningful—a brotherhood that transcends assemblies and organizations.

The Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Marasbaras Council 14447 was represented by 𝙎𝙆 𝙀𝙙𝙜𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙤 𝙎. 𝙏𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙣, Grand Knight.

Today, the Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Marasbaras Council 14447 joyfully gives thanks to God for 34 years of priestly service of our beloved 𝙍𝙚𝙫. 𝙁𝙧. 𝙑𝙞𝙧𝙜𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙤 𝘾. 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙤𝙜.

For 34 years, Fr. Gil has lived out the true spirit of a Knight — leading in *Charity, Unity, and Fraternity*.

As our supportive Council Chaplain, you have been our spiritual anchor. You guide us in prayer, strengthen us in faith, and inspire us to serve the Church and community with selfless love, just as Christ the King served.

Your priesthood is a living witness of VIVAT JESUS — that Christ truly lives and works through you.

On this blessed milestone, we pray that the Lord grants you continued health, wisdom, and abundant grace. May Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal always intercede for you.

In a powerful expression of faith, fraternity, and service, the Joint Honor Guards of Msgr. Benjamin M. Bacierra Assembly 3867, headed by Faithful Navigator 𝙎𝙆 𝙈𝙞𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙚𝙡 𝘼𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙡𝙤 𝙋. 𝙋𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙙𝙤 and Don Jamie C. De Veyra Assembly 0985, headed by Faithful Navigator 𝙎𝙆 𝙉𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧 𝘼𝙗𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙖, rendered a solemn Honor Guard service during the 61st Fiesta Celebration and 5th Parish Anniversary of St. Roch the Healer Parish.

The celebration, held in honor of St. Roch the Healer, was graced by 𝙈𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙍𝙚𝙫. 𝙅𝙤𝙝𝙣 𝙁. 𝘿𝙪, 𝘿.𝘿., Archbishop of Palo, who presided over the Solemn Feast Day Mass, concelebrated by 42 priests.

Eleven Sir Knights stood in solemn formation and service. Nine Sir Knights represented Assembly 3867, while two came from Assembly 0985.

The Honor Guard service was made possible through the invitation of 𝙎𝙆 𝙎𝙩𝙚𝙫𝙚 𝘼. 𝙍𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙨, 𝙅𝙧, Grand Knight of Jesus Nazareno Manlurip Council 16606, reflecting the strong bond of brotherhood and cooperation among Knights of Columbus councils and assemblies.

Adding a personal and meaningful moment to the celebration, SK Edgardo S. Teston, Grand Knight of Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Marasbaras Council 14447, had the opportunity to meet LNHS scout and former SPA and SPS students , who are now faithfully serving St.Roch Parish as Altar Servers - a beautiful reminder that the seeds of service planted in young hearts continue to grow.

The spirit of Unity and Fraternity shines not only in our Knights of Columbus activities, but also in the moments when Brother Knights come together to celebrate the blessings and milestones of one another.

With joyful hearts, Brother Knights gathered to celebrate the 60th Birthday of 𝙎𝙆 𝙅𝙤𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙤 𝘼. 𝙂𝙤𝙣𝙯𝙖𝙡𝙚𝙨, a respected Brother Knight of Council 8185 and a Grand Knight Awardee of the prestigious Star Council Award for Fraternal Year 2025–2026.

The celebration was further blessed by the presence of 𝙍𝙚𝙫. 𝙁𝙧. 𝙇𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙩𝙤 𝙋. 𝘼𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙚, Council Chaplain of Council 8185 , making the occasion more meaningful and memorable.

Sixty years is more than a number—it is a testament to a life filled with memories, relationships, service, and countless blessings. And what better way to celebrate it than surrounded by Brother Knights who share the same spirit of faith, friendship, and fraternity.

“𝐀 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞: 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥 𝟏𝟑𝟔𝟗𝟓 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝!”

With faith at the heart of fraternity and service as its mission, St. Raphael the Archangel Parish Council 13695 officially installed its officers and inducted its appointed officers for Fraternal Year 2026–2027.

The celebration opened with a Eucharistic Celebration presided over by 𝗥𝗲𝘃. 𝗙𝗿. 𝗖𝗶𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝘆 𝗔. 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮 𝗜𝗜, Parish Priest, setting a meaningful tone for another year of brotherhood and service.

The Installation Rites followed, led by the installing team composed of 𝙎𝙆 𝙈𝙞𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙚𝙡 𝘼𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙡𝙤 𝙋. 𝙋𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙙𝙤, District Deputy District V-79 and 𝙎𝙆 𝙀𝙙𝙜𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙤 𝙎. 𝙏𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙣, District Warden and Grand Knight of Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Marasbaras Council 14447

𝙎𝙆 𝙅𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙅𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙂. 𝙑𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙜𝙖𝙨 returns as Grand Knight, once again entrusted with the leadership of Council 13695. Rev. Fr. Caraballa was also once again installed as Council Chaplain, continuing his spiritual guidance and pastoral support for the Brother Knights and their families.

The fellowship continued with the Induction of Appointed Officers, led by District V-79 District Deputy SK Michael Angelo P. Perido, as the newly appointed officers formally accepted their responsibilities for the new fraternal year.

The presence of the supportive Lady Knights added meaning to the celebration, standing alongside their husbands and showing that behind every dedicated Brother Knight is a family that shares in the mission of service.

Certificates of Recognition were also presented to the outgoing officers in appreciation of their dedication and contributions to the council's achievements—particularly its earning of the prestigious Star Council Award from the Supreme Council.

Out of 1,045 councils across the entire Visayas State Jurisdiction, only 34 councils earned the coveted Star Council Award—making Council 13695's achievement truly a remarkable milestone.

A new leadership team. A continuing spiritual guide. A renewed commitment to serve.

Congratulations, Council 13695! May this new fraternal year bring greater unity, stronger fraternity, and more opportunities to serve God, country, and community.

For Fraternal Year 2025–2026, only 34 councils out of 1,045 across the Knights of Columbus Visayas State Council earned the prestigious Star Council Award from the Supreme Council in New Haven, Connecticut, USA.

That means only 3.25% reached this distinguished milestone - and Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Marasbaras Council No. 14447 is proudly among them! 🏆⭐

This 𝙎𝙏𝘼𝙍 𝘾𝙊𝙐𝙉𝘾𝙄𝙇 𝘼𝙒𝘼𝙍𝘿 is not simply a recognition on paper. It represents countless hours of service, faith-filled activities, brotherhood, sacrifices, teamwork, and commitment to the mission of the Knights of Columbus.

Behind this 𝙎𝙏𝘼𝙍 are Brother Knights , Council Chaplain, Lady Knights, Families who showed up, served, prayed, supported, and never gave up.
