Tacurong Campus, where one of the most heartwarming and proudest moments was the warm embrace given to the ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐ of the entire SKSU, President Torreรฑa.
Tacurong Campus successfully held its Flag Raising Ceremony on September 28, 2026, at the Campus Gymnasium. The event was attended by University President Atty. Cyrus E. Torreรฑa, DPA, MNSA, along with university personnel, students, faculty, and staff.
Campus Director Dr. Helen M. Espartero, EdD, opened the ceremony. She reminded everyone about a recent fire incident involving 20 affected students from SKSU Tacurong Campus. The fire was caused by a charger left plugged in while the students were jogging for 30 minutes. When they returned, everything was already on fire. She thanked the faculty, staff, and the Red Cross Youth (RCY) for their quick response and help.
She also reminded everyone to always be observant of their surroundings because accidents happen unexpectedly.
President Torreรฑa then presented his new platforms. He reiterated his new grading system first announced during Pagkilalahay 2026 โ where a grade of 3.00 is still considered passing, and a student can still graduate as Cum Laude as long as they maintain a general average of 1.75. He emphasized that this is for everyone โ whether LGBTQIA+, PWD, male or female โ everyone has the chance to be Cum Laude.
He also proposed four new academic programs for Tacurong Campus:
Bachelor of Science in Social Work, Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology, Bachelor of Science in Applied Economics, and Bachelor of Science in Legal Management.
He also announced that night classes will be available for working students in Tacurong, Isulan, and Kalamansig Campuses, saying, This aims to give more opportunities to working students and those who are not financially stable.
President Torreรฑa added that as the father of SKSU, anyone can call or text him anytime. He is also open to talk to anyone about mental health concerns in his office. He also announced that every Monday, there will be a flag raising ceremony in all seven campuses of SKSU, and he will visit each campus every Monday to ensure equality and to show his presence.
The ceremony included a prayer, the Philippine National Anthem, Sultan Kudarat Hymn, and Tacurong Hymn, followed by the Panunumpa sa Watawat ng Pilipinas and the presentation of the University's Vision, Mission, and Strategic Goals led by students.
Student leaders, departments, and students also gave gifts to President Torreรฑa as a sign of love and appreciation, and as an advance gift for Teachers' Day.
The program ended with not just one, but three energizer dances, where all university personnel, faculty, staff, and students actively and joyfully participated.
The flag raising ceremony was not just a regular gathering, but a new chapter for students in their education and future โ platforms that pave the way to better opportunities.
Once again, Happy Teachers' Day, President Torreรฑa. Your SKSU Tacurong Campus family holds you in high regard.
