Another significant step toward safer and more accessible public spaces was marked with the official inauguration of the pedestrian overpass in front of SKSU ACCESS Campus, offering students, commuters, faculty members, and nearby residents a more secure and convenient passage across the busy national highway.
The inauguration ceremony brought together university officials, local leaders, partner agencies, students, and community members in a shared celebration of progress and public service. Representing University President Dr. Samson L. Molao, University Vice President for Finance and Resource Generation, Sir Reynaldo H. Dalayap Jr., delivered the welcome remarks, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing the welfare, protection, and safety of the academic community through infrastructure projects such as the overpass. Messages of support were likewise expressed by government officials who acknowledged the project’s significance in addressing long-standing road safety concerns, with Tacurong City Mayor Hon. Lina O. Montilla describing the overpass as a life-saving development and urging the public to preserve and responsibly utilize the facility for the benefit of all.
Meanwhile, Governor Datu Pax S. Mangudadatu reaffirmed the Provincial Government’s commitment to programs and infrastructure projects that directly respond to the needs of the people. He acknowledged the concerns of parents, students, and residents regarding the heavy traffic situation along the national highway and stressed that the project was pursued to ensure a safer and more secure environment for the community.
More than just a structure of concrete and steel, the overpass stands as a powerful symbol of unity, progress, and collective action, reflecting how the strong collaboration between the university, government agencies, and stakeholders continues to create meaningful and lasting impact for future generations. Indeed, Sultan Kudarat continues to move forward with purpose, proving that it is truly “Sikat Ka,” as it embraces development initiatives centered on safety, accessibility, and people-focused progress.
