ADMISSION GUIDE NO. 1 - Procedure for Admission of First Year (Freshmen) Students in the BSMT and BSMARE Programs
For guidance, we are posting below the school’s approved procedure in the admission of freshmen students applying for admission in the BS in Marine Transportation (BSMT) and BS in Marine Engineering (BSMARE) programs of PMI Colleges-Bohol.
First-year students (Freshmen) shall submit the following documented information to the admission officer to evaluate pre-admission qualification:
1. Senior High School Report Card – Form 138 or its equivalent.
In case a student is a product of the Alternative Learning System (ALS), the student must submit the ALS Certificate of Rating in addition to the Senior High School Report Card;
2. Original Copy of the Birth Certificate or Certificate of Live Birth issued by the Philippine Statistics Office (PSA).
In case the submitted copy is unreadable or is inconsistent with other documents, the admission officer may require the submission of an authenticated copy of the Record of Birth issued by the Local Civil Registrar concerned.
3. Original Copy of Certificate of Good Moral Character from school last attended;
4. 2 copies of recent 2 x 2 colored picture with name tag;
5. NBI clearance issued in the last 6 months;
6. NaMMAT score or certificate; and
7. Physical and Medical Fitness Test Results and Certifications, as follows:
a. Ishihara Test and Visual Acuity
b. Hearing Test
c. Chest X-Ray
d. ECG (Electrocardiogram)
e. CBC (Complete Blood Count) with Blood Type
f. Urinalysis
g. Stool examination / Fecalysis
h. Hepa B Screening (Hepa B antigen, Hepa B antibodies)
i. Dental Examination Certificate
j. Psychological Test
k. Recommendation from the School Physician that the student is fit to enroll in the maritime programs.
Note 1 - Form 138 or its equivalent is now referred to as School Form 9 (SF 9).
Note 2 - In case a student has not taken the National Merchant Marine Aptitude Test (NaMMAT), he/she shall proceed to the Office of the Dean of the College of Maritime Education for further instructions.
Note 3 - in addition to the above requirements, there shall be drug testing within the duration of the school year.
Note 4 - in addition to the above requirements, Hepatitis Vaccine shall be required before the end of the student’s first semester.
Note 5 - students with any physical deformities, congenital anomalies, limb deformities, spinal and postural issues, and/or acquired musculoskeletal deformities that may render the student not to fit for sea service shall not be admitted in the maritime program.
